Hola, I have recently walked the Via de la Plata (Savilla to Santiago). If you are planning to walk this fantastic route, I am more than happy to answer any questions you might have. Buen camino, gerald

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

I am intending to cycle the VdeP starting at the end of April, just one question for now, did you have a good command of Spanish? I have been trying to learn the language but finding it difficult, wiil this be a real problem for me?
regards Joe

Amigo-----------------Yes, I have plans to walk the Via de la Plata this coming spring. Did you go the Ourense route or Astorga after the route splits? I've walked the Camino before ('01, Via Frances, and '04, from Astorga) and am so looking forward to another go at it. Anything in particular Not to Miss, or To Watch-Out-For? Thanks. Bless you.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
un poco de espanol

I will be walking the vdlp starting 29 April in Seville. I can speak a bit of Spanish, although I had my best command of the language when I walked from Roncesvalles to Burges in 2000. There I helped other people with my language skills. Maybe take a small dictionary or copy a few pages from the essentials words you need, like food, accommodation, directions and questions. Buen Camino.

Stellar-I walked vdlp last amy and went via ourense, mainly to avoid meeting the flood of people on the cf. It was certainly challenging being quite steep in parts but had some of the most varied and spectacular scenery-the albergues in galicia were also excellent-and free.
The albergue in ourense in very good but I thought the town itself pretty ugly. The guide book says that probably the steepest part of the whole vdlp (1000kms) is on the outskirts of ourense-it was a road about 1 km long with a gradient of about 30%-but with a nice restaurant at the top.
