I'm thinking to take the walk in sept-okt 2017. I will start in the middle of sept and planing to walk to the end of October. I wonder about the weather?

Too many and too often!

I walked the Camino Frances in September and October last year. Most of the time it was dry and pleasantly warm. But there were also days when it rained heavily and for a long time, and a couple of days so cold overnight that there were small patches of frost on the ground in the morning and I wore my spare socks as mittens for the first hour or so of walking. You should really prepare for heat, cold and rain as you may find them all. A number of thin layers is better than heavy clothing you may only use on one or two occasions.

Do be aware that many albergues start to close mid October for a well-earned rest after the crowds of summer have left; hospitaleros usually know who is open on the next stage.

Sock mittens! Yes I remember that, on a morning with a nip of frost. October is a lovely time to go.

Tank You for answers, I was hoping to start in the beginning of sept but work seems to stop it I think I will take the walk anyway when reading your answers.

Camino Frances & Camino Ingles -- Oct./Nov. 2016

Walked from end of Sept. to mid-Nov. last year. First the Frances and then the Englais. Wonderful time of the year, weather-wise. Not much rain until Galicia; then several times a day on some days. Off and on. After Nov.1, a lot of things start closing down. Try to be wrapped up by then, or at least in Santiago, Pamplona, etc.,where you can still find accommodations. When I return next year, I'll shoot for the same time frame. I much prefer the cooler time of the year. The Frances route had just the right mix of pilgrim crowds for me. On the Englais after Nov. 1, I only saw 2 or 3 pilgrims a day. I'll do the Norte or the long Potuguese next year. Have a safe trip. Don't get tripped up by the small details. It won't be too hot or too cold!

I walked mid sept - end October 2016 ... only had one day rain Going over a mountain ... o cebero ... I think ... not correct spelling ....
the other day started warm mid sept .... got cooler as getting to mid October

I couldn't believe my luck !!

Walked in October ..november , it was magnificent , a lot of fog in the valleys , the ridges were like islands ,it lifted mid morning
no crowds , plenty of space in the alberges ,the cafes were not crowded and we knew pretty much everybody by the end ,
no hot days , a couple of rainy ones and a day of snow in 0cebreiro , it never was cold anyway

I have walked twice mid Sept to end Oct. At O'Cebreiro I had snow once. In Galacia there were plenty of frosty mornings towards the end of Oct. I take the normal layers of clothes, plus gloves and a beanie and of course a light sleeping bag.
