When to Walk?

Camino_chris

New Member
Hi, I will be walking my first Camino this year, St Jean Pied de Port to Santiago. Planning on leaving late August, and walking through September, but I have some flexibility on this. I read on this forum that the Camino can be quite busy at times and I am keen to avoid the busiest times, so will I be OK or should I bring forward or delay departure?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Chris

When to Walk

Hola Chris,
The Lonely Planet Guide has this to say about When to walk:

"The best months are May and June or September & October. The spring months offer long days and visual splendour. Rivers are full, the hillsides burst with wildflowers and the meseta is still green. By September and October the unbearable heat and crowds of July and August have diminished but shades of brown dominate the landscape and the meseta appears an arid landscape."

Whatever you decide, have a good one!
