Fly to Lyon (St Exupery). Metro to Lyon.(14 euros) Train from Lyon Part-Dieu station to Le Puy (about 20 euros). Remember to 'composter les billets' but they'll forgive you as a foreigner if you dont. From Le Puy to where?

New walker planning on heading off in September

Hi Brummie, As a student, you'll find the bus to Stanstead much cheaper, if you wish. For that, go to Victoria coach station , Buckingham Palace road (oh the shame of the names!), nearest tube, Victoria (rail station). A bus from Birmingham will end up in Victoria anyway, I believe. You might...

From Appalachian Trail to El Camino de Santiago

Hi B Thanks for your words on these trails, which not everyone on this side of the Atlantic is aware of. Which camino did you walk? There are many, as you know. I wonder in what way do you find that the camino which you did "represents a new way to travel" ? The comparison would be interesting.

Recomend 2 wk walk in area AS pwrful on subconscious?

Hi there If you're still with us, here's something which might interest you.. :D , which I chanced upon today when reading. This quote is from the Leicester Book, by Leonardo da Vinci. The cosmology here is essentially medieval, and the language is a poetic analogy between the earth and the...

Recomend 2 wk walk in area AS pwrful on subconscious?

Hi Sound I'd suggest that the energies you speak of are within you and most directly accessed there, independent of place. Having said that, some find that walking a Camino can be a 'hotline' to the subconscious. Yet a camino can lead us to the water but it can't make us drink. My best wishes...

    Armchair Pilgrim

Hi Sean Nell has hit on a very good solution. I will add to it by suggesting you consider the Camino Portugues. It's quieter and tho' you will use dormitories, it may be much less crowded than the CF. Incidentally, many of us, certainly I do, have difficulties with such sleeping arrangements...

    Armchair Pilgrim

True, but where wil you sleep that night? If you're not walking, you wont be allowed to stay there. So it's back to hotels etc. Good luck and let us know what you did. By all means view the terrain which is not challenging mostly, except for distance, which IS a challenge; And that might be a...

    Armchair Pilgrim

Just to be clear, Sean. I said Hostals, not hostels. Its not the same thing in Spain. Hostels, which you wouldnt find every night, are also dormitory. Hostals are a grade of hotel/private acc. I wouldnt use hotels either, for several reasons. Remember if you have a tent, you'll need to spend to...

    Armchair Pilgrim

Hi Sean Welcome......I hope you find a way to do a camino one day.If you want it enough, of course you will. If you cant take dormitory acc., then take a hotel, hostal etc each night. It'll cost you though. Or take a tent; but dont take a tent if you're not already a camper. Carpe diem!
