Google Maps has the distance as 3.5km. Gronze has the Albergue as closed.Iam taking a train from Madrid to Bilbao and staying overnight at the Pilgrims Albergue in Bilbao how far is the Albergue from the train station?

but why would I want to to go to Portugalete? I want to stay in Bilbao. The albergue in Portugalete, in the northwest end of Bilbao, appears to be open. Either hoof it (12km) or just take the metro to Portugalete and walk up the hilll to C. Martin Fernandez Villaran, 2. Gronze tells us that it is open June to September, so you might want to check at turismo@portugalete.org or by telephoning +34 944 729 314.
About 15 minutes more from the metro is a private albergue, Albergue Bide Ona (alberguebideona.com) contactable at info@alberguebideona.com or +34 946 038 630 or +34 688 602 103. It is also on Booking.com and is open all year.
Only you can answer that question.but why would I want to to go to Portugalete? I want to stay in Bilbao.
Portugalete is the northern side of Bilbao on the left bank and IIRC is part of the city. It is about 15 minutes on the metro from the city centre. Many pilgrims stay in Portugalete to get an early start the next day rather than the centre, but really it's about your choices.but why would I want to to go to Portugalete? I want to stay in Bilbao.
