Chuck,

I'll copy the notes from my walking plan earlier this year in June:

~ Train to Pamplona --> From Madrid Atocha Station departs 14: 50, arrives Pamplona 18:22

Note: Schedule may have changed. You can book on-line at renfe.com. We had to book first class tickets on the train because cheaper seats were all taken.

Booked: (Booking.com) Albergue de Pamplona-Iruñako, Carmen 18 Bjo, 31001 Pamplona (check-in by 20:00 hrs)

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.
I booked the the 14:50 train to Pamplona.
Thank you!
There are several cafes just outside the Atocha station where you can have a late breakfast / lunch while you burn a couple hours waiting for the train. It's the low stress way to get to Pamplona.

You can use Gronze to find accommodations in both places.

I can recommend Casa Ibarrola and Albergue de Pamplona-Iruñako Aterpea in Pamplona. In SJPdP Beilari is very popular. I've also stayed at Gite Bidean, but in a private room.

I hope you found a bed. It's getting a bit late for booking Pamplona but Jesus y Maria is large and maybe you'll get lucky. If you haven't done it yet I'd do it today! I've stayed in several places in SJPP including Gite Makila, Gite Compostella, and several others. Check Gronze and also check booking.com to see if you can find a bed. I'd also book Roncesvalles and Zubiri. Good luck and Buen Camino.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-

Sounds like a great way to decompress!
Thank you

In Pamplona I would recommend :

Albergue municipal Jesús y María, Pamplona – Camino Francés

An excellent albergue, I have stayed there twice.

Hi
I'm arriving 28 August and taking the train to Pamplona. I have the Renfe app on my phone. Were you able to buy the Tarjeta Dorada on the Renfe site?

Join Camino Cleanup: Logroño to Burgos May 2025 and Astorga to O'Cebreiro in June.
I stayed at
Aloha HostelSanguesa, 2, 1º piso, Pamplona, 31003, Spain

since it was already part of my Camino walk, I cannot tell you how far it is from train and or bus station(s)
but the place was very nice

Good luck and Buen Camino!

Aloha is a nice place. It is about 10 mins. walk from the centre of the town/camino. If you come by train, take a taxi. It is some distance you do not want to walk after a long journey.

No, you have to buy the initial card in person, but it can be renewed online. It may be less expensive to buy and advance ticket now than the discounted Tarjeta Dorada price on the day.

Here's info about the card:

I'll book before I leave.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Sorry , I just saw your question. No, I believe someone on this forum said that you can get the card at the station. If you find something different please let me know. Thank you

I recommend to take a look at the "Casa Paderborn". Excellent german Hospitaleros / Hospitaleras.
Nice and cosy, down by the riverbanks of the Arga.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
