Hi we are flying into Porto on the morning of Wednesday June 14th and plan to take the metro into the city, stop at the cathedral to get our credentials and then head straight out on the Senda Litoral to Matosinhos for a relatively short first day. We will then head inwards to Acros on day 2 to complete the rest on the Caminho Central. Is it possible to get a credential in the morning at the cathedral and head straight out, without waiting for it to open etc? We will arrive mid morning. (We are coming back to Porto at the end of our Camino for 5 nights)

Hi John,
I can't answer your specific question about the cathedral in Porto, but where are you located? Would you rather get your credentials from home so you don't have to worry about trying to find them in Porto? For example, if you're American you could contact American Pilgrims on the Camino; or if you're in the UK contact the Confraternity of St. James. Another alternative would be to order them directly from Ivar here: https://www.santiagodecompostela.me...passport-from-the-pilgrims-office-in-santiago

Buen Camino!

I ran into a problem doing a similar thing several years ago. The cathedral is not open 24/7 and the guy who does the credentials is not always available even though they are sitting in a small desk drawer on the right hand side of the main sanctuary just inside the front door which no one else seems to know.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Thank you. I'm in Canada.
If I ordered them with the link you posted, would they arrive in time? We fly out of Toronto on June 8th.

Yes, Canadian Company of Pilgrims is your best bet then. Although, Ivar is pretty quick with his service as well...but international mail is always hairier than domestic mail :) Maybe.

The big issue is the society doesn't pick its mail up daily.

At approx $5 a piece I would order one from Ivar and CCP. One of them should arrive in 3 weeks, otherwise you will have an unexpected adventure getting your Credential.

I tried to pick one up on the Norte this winter, and all the locations in the East (Irun to Deba) were one day a week only. Except Deba which was from the Tourist information daily!

I hopped on the train and went to the right church for the right time, but it changed my walking plans for a day!
