Hi all

I’m thinking of starting my Camino (SJPDP TO Finisterre) one day out of SJPDP - maybe 10-15kms out with an easy walk to adjust and acclimatise. Which town would be appropriate for that?

Maybe Irissarry?

Thanks

Are you talking about Orisson? It's not a town, just a refugio, and reservations are usually required to stay there.

There is also a new auberge about one km past Orisson called Auberge Borda.

Irissary is nothing special and getting there can be a bit more difficult than it’s worth. If you can add a few days, definitely walk from Bayonne or Oleron St Marie. Both have multiple transit options to reach them and each is interesting in its own right and worth a visit.

I think, really, any of them. They are all very pretty. The walks into St Jean are very nice. In other words you can’t go wrong, just pick the distance you want!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Great minds…!

If you are in SJPdP on May 15 or 16 I booked a whole apartment that apparently can host 5 people but there's only I and one of my long time Camino friends staying.

Extra room for anyone who needs a place to crash.
