Depending on your definition of "pilgrimage," :) the Fife Coastal Path from Edinburgh to St. Andrews is a nice hike. It doesn't have quite the infrastructure of the Camino as far as hostels/albergues town to town, but it's a beautiful coastal hike. I hiked it last May and really enjoyed it.
I'm pretty structured. I try to walk or hike 3-6 miles each day, whether on local trails or just around the neighborhood. I log my mileage in an XL file. (Somewhere around 1,450 miles so far this year.) And I'm fortunate to live in AZ where snow is rare (heck, even RAIN has been rare!)...
Three that I enjoyed, and a couple of them had been mentioned in other threads. My favorite is "I'll Push You" by Patrick Gray and Justin Skeesuck. Two others are "On My Way" by Louise Sawle and "My Own Pace" by Bryan Paul Steward. I tend to gravitate towards human interest stories, or those...
Absolutely awesome. An inspiration to us all.
I have a friend who hiked a major part of the Frances in May 2019 at the age of 81. I hiked from Leon to Santiago several weeks later, and on to Finisterre. I believe he's hiking part of the Aragones this year at age 85. Age is only a number...
From "Whistler's Way" by William Monk, hiking the PCT. Very appropriate to a lot of situations these days. We all walk our own Camino.
THAT IS YOU, THIS IS ME
I've listened to what you’ve had to say,
But let me be clear to you today.
I may go fast, while you go slow.
Who is right? We neither...
I'd say the communal meals at Murias de Rechivaldo (Las Aguedas) and Fonfria (A Reboleira). Las Aguedas because it was my first communal meal and interact with other pilgrims, and the setting at A Reboleira. Communal meals are often the best, simply for the opportunity to meet other pilgrims...
@Louise Sawle Downloaded the Kindle version this afternoon. 45 pages in so far, in Los Arcos, and I'm enjoying it!
I did the CF in May 2019 from Leon to Finisterre. I'm curious to see how your Camino compared with mine over the same route. I'm sure it'll bring back fond memories.
@Ali@59, thanks for the info! Just like the Camino...be prepared for any weather. Looking forward to it and hopefully meeting a few new friends along the way!
I'm interested in walking the Fife Coastal Path in April 2023 from North Queensferry to St. Andrews. Not a particularly long hike (+/- 100km or 60 miles). From what I can tell, it's mostly along the beach. A few questions.
1) Weather? I've heard highs are in the 50s (F) and lows into the 30s...
I guess I'm a little different. I prefer stories of achievement, overcoming adversity and obstacles. That's why "I'll Push You" appealed to me, as opposed to more popular "celebrity" books my MacLaine and Coelho. There's another good one that came out recently called "My Own Pace" by Bryan...
