Camino Norte Route from San Sebastian

There is an albergue a few km's before San Sebastian on the Camino, which is donativo if that is any help to you. The address is Paseo de Ulía 375, 20013 San Sebastian Guipúzcoa. It is run by the community of the 12 Tribes, and I stayed there a few weeks ago, they are extremely friendly and the...

Official new alternative route from Boimorto to Lavacolla

They do still give it, also at the little information hut on the road next to the drive way down to the albergue.

To the person who wanted to inspire love . . . you didn't!

On the Norte, they're all near pristine (at least from Aviles to Santiago) I was very impressed.

    Leaving from Málaga info

That's good news, and will really help. Málaga - what a wonderful city, it's one of my favourites. Sadly, I didn't get too far on my walk - food poisoning at Antequera put a stop to things, but the walk until then was fantastic, I can't wait to continue it.

To the person who wanted to inspire love . . . you didn't!

Btw, has anyone been to the Jesus Albergue in Villar de Mazarife recently? In 2015 I stayed there in December. I was the only one, it was dark, freezing, and felt unfriendly, but most of all I remember every wall and bed was covered in graffiti, it added to my sense of desolation that evening...

To the person who wanted to inspire love . . . you didn't!

Good job. Way to be a proper caretaker of the path. The only thing I am curious about is why? Why did your now friend want to graffiti damage someone else's property along the Camino? What is the motive? What is the reason for such a selfish act? Thanks RJM, I'm not entirely sure. I think he...

To the person who wanted to inspire love . . . you didn't!

It was so edifying when I just walked the Norte, every sign post and marker was in pristine condition ... until I rejoined the Frances at Lavacolla, and the first maker (about one minute after the last perfect Norte marker) was thoroughly vandalised - no more plates showing distances. From then...

Official new alternative route from Boimorto to Lavacolla

The walk from Boimorto is great, it's a long day, but avoids joining the French Camino till the last moment, which was important for me. There is a lovely municipal albergue at Boimorto, just before you get into town, very modern, spacious and clean (I was the only person sleeping there - in...

    Which Camino in August?

Hello. Any advice on which section to walk would be gratefully received please. I'm flying into Bilbao on 7th August and flying out of Santiago on the 27th. I was originally thinking of bussing to Aviles and continuing my Northern Camino as far as I can get, but not sure what that is like or...

Hot off the presses — Guide 2019

Hello, Gronze mentions a Viejo Camino. Is this the same as the Olvidado? I can't find much about the Viejo on this forum so wondered if they are the same? What would it be like to walk in August? Thanks.

10 extra days after reaching Santiago: where next

Train Santiago to Leon, walk the San Salvador to Oviedo. Bus from Oviedo back to Santiago. Easy. The Salvador is magnificent, my favourite. You get to see beautiful Oviedo, plus, if you still have time you can do a short bus journey from Oviedo to Gijon in a day, another lovely city by the...

To carry or not to carry an hair dryer?

I love this photo, it sums up the eccentricities you see on the Camino so well.

To carry or not to carry an hair dryer?

I suspect much of the irony of this thread is being lost. Hairdryer for short haired man walking the Camino - all those serious replies, it's been one of the funniest threads in ages!

To carry or not to carry an hair dryer?

If you did that, would it be a good idea to bring some of those silicone oven gloves? They don't weigh much either.

I'm laughing so much. Thanks Gabe and all the replies for brightening up my day! ;)

Repeating the camino - opinions please!

CF is my "home camino" but I only walk it in winter when it's quieter. Every time I go back it's wonderful, but the other sections of other Caminos are also wonderful.

    Leaving from Málaga info

Thanks both of you, it sounds wonderful ... and Bradypus, I'm a Meseta lover too, it's partly why I love walking in the South of Spain, the wide open landscapes and colours are wonderful. I was looking at your blog earlier Magwood, it is great, and I have marked it out to read more of.

    Leaving from Málaga info

Anyone else's thoughts on the route from Málaga? Alternatively I could head to Guadix where I walked to in September, and keep walking from there. Anyone done both?
