First time posting Live?
Left León at 8am. Arrived at Cabanillas 2. The path is very beautiful.
20km total. Followed the River. At first town we went to the lovely Bar and Tienda. I bought cheese and ham and we were all set for Cabanillas.. (no shop/no bar). We were very glad to stop here as...
(Soon-) Live from the Camino del Salvador - starting end of April 24.
We are currently on the Camino de Invierno around 43km before reaching Santiago - from there we will catch a bus to Leon to start the Camino del Salvador on Thursday. Luckily we have a very generous schedule with a planned...
...and, with one exception, did not miss an arrow. (And I share your same trait.) I met 4 pilgrims total. Mostly good weather plus rain, which made the rocky stretches slippery. The month of May might still be cold; maybe even snowy. The CF has been wet and cold — but it is early April. Buen camino!
...in order to start the Mountain route early in the day, then stopping at both Poladura and Pajares before Benduenos. We'll leave Leon on 25th April. A 27km first day seems a bit much, and then a short 10km between Cabanillas and La Robla seems very short. We can hopefully let you know how we...
I'm leaving Leon on the 25th April. I've 20days in total to walk The Salvador and Primitivo. I've seen how beautiful the Mountains are in many videos. I've listened to pilgrims talking about certain Albergues. My current idea is
Cabinillas 17km (all rough estimates)
Buiza 23km (eating during the...
...pilgrims. The Salvador is by no means as busy with pilgrims as the Frances, or even the Primitivo, but there were a lot more pilgrims than the Madrid and it wasn't too hard to encounter other pilgrims if you wanted to.
You could also consider adding your April start date in Leon to this thread.
I will be your front runner ;) I arrive to Leon (from Madrid Airport) on 10th April walking San Salvador for the first time, and continue from Oviedo via Camino Primitivo to Santiago - which I walked last year. You can look forward to a fantastic camino - I wish you buen camino and good luck.
Is anyone leaving Leon around between April 29 - May 2? I am attempting to combine the San Salvador with the Primitivo, and need to be in Oviedo by May 8. I hope for a 6 (7) day walk on the San Salvadore.
Input on this goal appreciated. As a solo traveler, would love to know there are others...
Thanks everybody
Being a through hiker I have a few sleeping bags. Just need to Know whether to take one on the San Salvador and Norte in late April and May.
Thanks
...Pilgrims
I will be hiking the San Salvador, crossing to Aviles and completing the Norte and Finisterre in May. I plan to leave Leon either April 25 or 26 and want to know whether to carry a sleeping bag. I only used a liner on the Primitivo in May this year, but plan to stay in as many...
...out there.
While Aemet will provide you with what has happened in the past we are into a period of rapid climate change. I've walked in the Picos de Europa in April and I've been denied the same route in June. We can all plan and all hope but next week is the best prediction you are going to get
The San Salvador in February, 2020 (3rd week to be exact) was completley dry and snow-free. Evening temps near freezing and morning frost on trails. Beautiful, solitary walk with albergues open and available. Winters overall have been warmer and drier these past few years.
