LIVE from the Camino Fuente de Cantos accommodation

they never answer emails. I wrote them in December to get a room for March. Not even a single reply. You can see similar experiences when you check them om Gronze. I just walked past that village and stayed in the next.

LIVE from the Camino Conditions on Via de la Plata

After Merida trail quality is good. Definetely still water on trail for another few days but nothing crazy anymore. Right after the monastery there was supposed to be some complications, but I avoided that part. Im about to reach Careces.

LIVE from the Camino Conditions on Via de la Plata

Walk out of Merida towards Aljucen was already pretty good. No big deal. Probably because it was hilly. From Torremejia to Merida it was a complete s**tshow. Its very flat there. I doubt there were any pilgrims that did not choose the car road near the trail instead.

LIVE from the Camino VdlP in (almost) real time

From other pilgrims I have gotten information that roughly 20 pilgrims started both Friday and Saturday. It seems like the holy week is not as insane for finding accomondation as I was told. All pilgrims in the albergue I am at finish at either Merida or Salamanca.

LIVE from the Camino VdlP in (almost) real time

I am posting daily blog style updates on Facebook that anyone can see and follow: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.8095032397178476&type=3 There are also video format stories visible on both Facebook and Instagram (stories auto-delete after 24h)...

    Norte 2023 in pictures (8min)

Best part in my opinion was Asturias region starting from Muros de Nalon. From there the Norte has a lot of natural terrain walking. Everything between Bilbao to Aviles was asphalt pretty much, but it makes sense if weather is not so good. Was not a huge fan of the asphalt. Therefore I...

    Norte 2023 in pictures (8min)

I am also building up a playlist of Youtube shorts of Norte 2023. I think I have them all done quite fast. Just throwing together raw video footage of under 1 min for each day of the Norte. This should give an especially authentic secondhand experience:

    Norte 2023 in pictures (8min)

Ever since you rech Bilbao its pretty much all asphalt. I used Buen Camino app to know what the road surface for certain stretches are. The shortest routes on Norte (after Bilbao) are usually highway style roadwalks. The deeper you get into Asturias region, the more you get oceanside natural...

    Del Norte

If you have only 2 weeks then concider starting from Aviles. The nature is beautiful, you do not need to worry about booking everything and no mountain challenges for quite a while. You get Asturias + Galicia. The best combo meal you can order.

    Norte 2023 in pictures (8min)

Norte 2023 was the first time I actually put some training into Camino. I walked a lot of stairs at home, a lot. First week in Spain was mountains and mud. After that it was pratically all asphalt. I took as many coastline alternatives as I could.:

    My first Camino (2017)

I got my Norte video ready just in time! Next week already starting VdlP from Seville. Here is Norte - a lot of asphalt, hills and beautiful views:

    Video: SJPdP - Santiago - Muxia - Finisterre (9min)

My third Camino was originally supposed to be Camino Norte. Last minute issues threw that idea completely on its head and just 24h before my flight left, I decided to try Camino Frances once again. The first time on the Frances was just 5 years earlier. I did eventually get to do the Norte a...

    My first Camino (2017)

I just published the video of my 2022 year Camino Frances. This one I was really happy with since shoes and physiotherapy had helped me a lot. It should be better than the first video, since here are also distances + comments from daily blog entries:

Safety concerns: First time walking Camino Portuguese as a female traveller

If you start from Porto or further North, then you are often around other pilgrims. This gives safety in numbers.

    Daily stamps

Sarria is 100+km from Santiago. You will not need 2 stamps daily yet. 2 stamps obligation starts within the last 100km if you want your compostela later. Once you start hiking past Sarria get 1 in a cafe/church you are passing and 1 in the accomondation.

    Video: Lisbon - Porto - Santiago - Finisterre (9min)

I hope you will have a great experience with Portugual! Just be prepared that there are almost no pilgrims before Porto and all of Portugal has mostly hard surface walking.

    Video: Lisbon - Porto - Santiago - Finisterre (9min)

Thanks Rita! It was my shortest average daily distance Camino so far. Even on the Norte I walked more daily. I think the main issue for Portugues was that I picked waterproof hiking shoes to walk in. I should have worn super breathable sneakers for the walk from Lisbon. These days I am doing...

    My first Camino (2017)

I have my 2022 Frances video with texts details in the works. 2023 Norte also. For both of them I also did a lot of short video clips that were temporarily on Instagram. I might use my favorite nature scenes from each day for a standalone video. Not sure yet. First will complete doing all...

    Video: Lisbon - Porto - Santiago - Finisterre (9min)

Just a few days ago I finished my first Camino video. That one was about Camino Frances. The first Camino got me addicted. Two years later I was back on the Camino - this time I started walking from Lisbon. For the second video I added also daily walking information and 1+ ideas from my blog...
