If you open the App Store > and click on the circular profile icon top right of the text that says "Today". Select purchases and you can download the app again even if its no longer in the store as long as you previously downloaded it. If you want a great maps app try "Galileo Offline Maps"...

Back from the Salvador - Wow! And bird warning :)

The Salvador is a wonderful walk. Some of the most memorable views I've had were on this Camino :)

    bed race

You will be fine, I walked mammoth days in peak season last year rarely arriving anywhere before 7pm and only found two albergues full, both happy to accommodate me, one I declined and walked on as I preferred it to go to someone else who may be more tired than I the other I gratefully accepted...

    What's your average pace?

My natural pace was around 5.5km/h on the Camino. It didn't matter if I was in the flat meseta or ascending a hill, covering 30km or 60km it generally always averaged out at around 5.5ish

Our stages on the Camino del Baztan

Great post, I walked the Baztane way in just 3 days but I have to say one of my most memorable albergue experiences was in Urdazubi (after Espelette) it's a large Church/Museum and I was one of only 2 guests a somewhat surreal & spiritual experience. It makes a short day from Espelette or a...

    Starting the Salvador tomorrow

I used my running shoes, there is one stretch that's quite marshy and you'll likely get wet feet walking through it (I did) but change of socks and you'll be good to go. Other than that trainers were fine :)

    Starting the Salvador tomorrow

It's hard to beat the picturesque views on the Salvador, Buen Camino!

    Icebreaker vs Smartwool socks

Either/or, both are quality merino socks.

Super cushioned footwear for Camino Portugues

It really comes down to what you are used to wearing and do you have any problems with weak ankles? I've walked 3 Caminos each time wearing Nike Air Pegasus running shoes. I took these on the Camino Frances, Camino Baztane, Camino Salvador and the Camino Primitivo, proud to say blister free...

Leon to Santiago in 8 days...possible?

That's your opinion but I can happily say you're wrong. :) Buen Camino :)

Leon to Santiago in 8 days...possible?

It's possible :) I did Burgos - Leon in 3 days, Leon - Oveido (Camino Salvador) in 3 days and Oveido to Santiago in 6 days (Primitivo). So it took me 9 days from Leon - Santiago going a longer/hillier route. Buen Camino :)

    Dogs of the Camino Frances

I became quite fond of this fella :)

    Poisonous Snakes???

I saw this chap crossing the road when I walked the Norte. In nearly 3000KM it's only one I've seen and it certainly wasn't interested in us pilgrims :)

How slow is slow enough? And some other questions.

I also find it amusing and ironic how many on here 'expect' others to conform to their idea of how a camino should be walked. I just returned from my 3rd Camino, which was also the longest distance and the shortest time walked (by a wide margin). Including multiple 70km days including walking...

Weight loss while doing the Camino?

I just returned from the CdN and gained 3lb. Copious amounts of wine was consumed. :)

Merino Wool ~ YES, it is worth the high price + its "stink free"

I love merino as casual wear and in winter but even 140g wool I find too warm in the summer and prefer synthetic tops. I just finished the Del Norte a few days ago and wore synthetic T's during the day and a Merino T in the evening as it looked smarter :)

What is the most you have walked in a day?

Avilles - Cadavedo 57.1km. Highlight of the day was after arriving and going to the local bar to be served vino tinto out of a pint glass at the sum of €0.50 a serving and being invited to play dominos with the locals :) Shortest day was probably Trinidad de Arre - Pamplona last year.

English Guide for Camino Norte and Primitive routes

I just arrived at Bilboa airport and enquired about the guide at the tourist information desk at the airport and was handed a free copy. It's 2nd edition 2012 along with a 2012/2013 albergue guide :)

English Guide for Camino Norte and Primitive routes

I printed the guide off from euskadi.eus. I wasn't a fan of the Cicerone guide, a bit bulky/heavy with more information than I personally cared for. When I walked the Frances I used the Map only book from Brierley as all I'm particularly interested in is approximate distances between...

    Mary in the Morning

I genuinely laughed out loud at the punchline! :)
