Thankfully we have a "little" more leeway on the far north coast and we can walk for longer periods. I was so down a few weeks ago so I got my backpack out and wore it aroundt he house, now I'm wearing it outside, next, I'll put it on for my morning walks. My fingers crossed for September 2022
We have journeyed as Pilgrims since ancient times and we will continue on pilgrimages while ever we inhabit Earth. This question has been asked since ancient times, and for sure the answer never changes.
Totally agree the only issue I faced in August-September this year was the 30 - 32 constant daily temperatures not usually experienced in the French Pyrenees.
Looking forward to meeting you along the pathway. I start in Lourdes 20th August although after SJPDP I will be doing some jumps as I have done the Frances route before. I am heading for Leon to do the San Salvador then to continue on the Primitivo.
Enjoy.
Buen Camino.
Even with health professionals in my family after 15 year It still comes and goes like you I have found that more frequent rests help. Interestingly I don't or to this date have not experienced it whilst on my Camino's I seem to have more episodes when not walking. Guess that shows everyone...
I walked the Frances at 68, Portuguese at 70, VdlP at 71. the Norte 72 and my next currently in planning stage is from Lourdes September 2019 and I will be 74. My partner is 5 years older and has done all so far with me. I am sure you will manage providing you take notice of what your body...
Hi Donna,
I have just read your post and tried to find your blog but came up with a blank. I am in the midst of planning to walk from Lourdes next August - from about the 23rd. I was wondering what the weather was like when you recently walked. I want to eliminate as much as possible. My next...
For me the Norte is a beautiful camino. However it involves many up hills, down hills, walks on the beach, narrow tracks in parts, road walking in parts. We are 73 and 78 so a lightweight backpack is far easier to manage than any form of pulling and/or pushing a trolley.
We did Norte October lsst year and it was still busy fot the Norte. We were told at many of he albergues that we had chosen the best time as up to mid September there are still many tourists.
ur
Waterproof trousers some people use and others don't purely and individual choice. I have completed several Caminos and never used them. As for your passport and money - with you at all times.
I found the 2015 edition was very out of date when we used it last year. The german guide is far superior so every night we would get tips for the next day from the many germans on the route.
