Hi there! Yup I'm still out here. It's been pretty, but truth be told there is a lot of pavement after Bilbao. It's been ok, but I wont return for a 2nd time! Much more crowded since Bilbao. Every albergue is full by 5pm. This is kinda vague but ask me more specifics if you like! :)
I'm on the Norte now- about 2 days from Bilbao. It's dead empty. Every albergue I've slept in was a quarter full. I've also only met 2 other English speakers. Kinda lonely!!
Hi There,
I think there was a great chain detailing the transportation options from Bilbao airport to Irun- but I can't seem to find it...
I land @ Bilbao airport at 6:30pm on Sunday May 7th. Was thinking of trying to catch a bus to Irun that night. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Sally
hi all! I'm about 2 days out from Santiago and am wondering if some of you have Santiago lodging recommendations for me.?Something close to cathedral and with other pilgrims. I'd like something cozy and simple to ease me back into real life.
Thanks!
Sally
I'd like to take a bus into Burgos when I'm about 15k from the city. Is this possible? How should I decide where to catch one and what bus scedule is? How to buy tix?
LOL- I'm not the litigious type. Everything is definitely dry, but still smelly. I'll just leave it out in the yard for a few days to air out. Hope it fades.
I sprayed my backpack, bedsheet and sleeping bag last night with the Sawyer permethrin pray. It says it is completely odorless, but in my opinion everything now reeks. Did you find this as well with your use of this product? It's been 14 hours and things still smell. I've got everything in the...
Hi All, Quick question about Orisson... I will be staying there for a night. Will there be a lunch that I can buy @ Orisson for my walk from Orisson to Roncesvalles? Or should I plan on purchasing some food before I leave St. Jean?
Are you the type that likes to look at packing lists? I know I do! I would love to hear your thoughts about mine. I'll be walking May 9- June 16th. I've heard to prepare for anything! Cold/Hot/Rain
I'm about 3 pounds over where I would like to be and am thinking that some of the electronics...
Thanks @peregrina2000 for the info. I was thinking I'd just take a taxi to Atocha to simplify things. I'm assuming I'll still have to get to the main terminal to catch a taxi. Will check out the map too. Thanks !!
I've been relatively obsessed with this question lately. I was looking and looking for a pair of sports sandals that didn't weigh much. After much looking, I have decided to bring my Teva Tirras- but wanted to provide people with the weights of some of the sandals I considered. Maybe it will...
How do people feel about booking the Promo and Promo+ tickets with Renefe? They seem to be 1/3 of the full Flexible tickets but can't change - so if you miss your train you are out of luck. I arrive at 7:45 am on May 8th and am looking at a 11:35 train from Atocha. To risky? The next train isn't...
I'd like to post myself a box to retrieve in Leon with a fresh pair of shoes. Love my Hoka Challengers but am noticing breakdown at the 350 mile mark which is affecting my knees. What is the best way to do this? Post extras from US or bring extras on plane and post from Madrid/Pamplona?
@Jim - thanks so much for the reply. I'll have to hunt down Travis at REI. Funny enough, this weekend I decided to try the Osprey Tempest again- this time with all my Camino gear vs 20lb of rice. The pack felt so much better! So I think I might be good. I was taking on a "Rocky" approach by...
Hi all,
I've been having a hard time finding a backpack that I like. I've been a regular at the Denver REI trying all sorts of packs! I've bought a few, loaded them with 20-23lbs of rice/water and have walked about 100+ miles with each one. My problem is they seem to be limited to Osprey and...
Hi All,
I have decided to go with Hoka Challengers for my May Frances camino. I've liked them so far and have put about 200 miles on a pair. I've noticed some wear around the tongue of the shoe already. For those of you who used Hokas, did you find that they held up for the entire 500+ miles...
