    post Camino walk...any advice?

My husband has volunteered at Pueblo Ingles as an English speaker on the spur of the moment (stopped at Ponferada on one Camino to do this). We've also gone to Spanish school a few times. There is a nice one in Santiago called Ira Flavia. He's also gone to one in Madrid.

    post Camino walk...any advice?

It's hard not to plan it all out into some kind of package. It is fine to have a plan, but don't lock yourself in with prepaid flights and reservations if at all possible. Your plans will likely morph and change as you go along. Maybe you'll hate it and head for a beach vacation in the first...

From just before Burgos - 47 friggin kms to find a bed!!!

I don't mind if people don't want to stay with us or even think we are "icky". There are enough pilgrims who want to be there either because of our traditional hospitality or because they need a bed. It is kind of weird to travel overseas to spend my precious vacation time to sleep on a mat on...

Ride share Taxis or shared rides available to Sarria/Samos from Ourense, Jun 1, 2024

Cab drivers in these smaller towns are often individuals who own their cab or whose family owns the cab with family members driving at different shifts. You will also see taxi signs with a phone number all along the Camino.

Ride share Taxis or shared rides available to Sarria/Samos from Ourense, Jun 1, 2024

There will be a cab stand at the station (bus or train or airport). Just go out and stand by the sign and someone will come along.

Ride share Taxis or shared rides available to Sarria/Samos from Ourense, Jun 1, 2024

What time does your plane arrive in Madrid? Both Sarria and Samos are small towns, and there are currently works on the train line in this region and at the train station out of Madrid that serves. There are limited ways to get there. You can take a bus or train to Ourense and then a cab to...

Stamps in Sarria when need to rest?

It is a requirement put into place by the church.

    BIQ questions

Very small airport. I think you will make the train or there is another one later if you are delayed. Take the bus into town to the train station.

Stamps in Sarria when need to rest?

As long as you have 2 stamps per day after you leave Sarria, you will be fine. You are still 100+ km out of Santiago and you need 2 stamps per day in that last 100 km. If you are taking rest days, simply state that if you are asked at the pilgrim office.

Monbus tickets - do I need a QR code?

Or, you can do what I do and go somewhere in town to have it printed. They used to print tickets at Pilgrim House, I believe. Technology is great until it isn't. Call me a Luddite, but I prefer paper.

    How Camino starts..

Air travel just isn't fun like it was when I was a kid... oh well, it will make a good story. Hope things start moving along soon and you don't miss connections or reservations!

    Laundry Masher

Hmmn... can you refill the beads somehow? Wonder what it weighs? I don't really see it catching on with the Camino crowd somehow.

    Sarria back to Madrid airport

Tickets will be available about a month or so out. As @jcat says, the schedules don't change too dramatically so pick a day next week to get the approximately times.

    Memory lane

Got a notification from my Phone that we started our first Camino 8 years ago today... We accidently left our phone charger and Kindle charger at Orrison along with our euro plug adapter and walked the first 3 days to Pamplona with essentially no electronics, so it can be done! As new pilgrims...

    Recent Smelly Pilgrim Test

It is for a Wool dress. I can't tell if you are allowed to wash it. I have one of this brand I took on the Camino last winter along with wool leggings for evening clothes and also slept in my dress several nights as a nightgown. Thinking about it for next winter when I will be in Italy and Spain...
