I will be there be there next Sunday, haven't made it in awhile so I look forward to hearing everyone's recent adventures.
If anyone is free tomorrow morning (Monday) for a coffee, I currently have with me a Dutch friend who I met on the Camino who loves a chat with other pilgrims. I have been...
Hi everyone,
Has anyone walked from Holland to Rome using part of the via Francigena? I am trying to work out which routes to take that will link from the east of Holland to perhaps Reims.
Would love suggestions!
Cheers
I'll put in my diary!
Also, out of interest, has anyone walked the Coast to Coast in England? i'm looking for recommendations on places to stay along route :)
Re: ** BEDBUG ALERT ** June 2013
I disagree about not posting alerts.
If pilgrims are aware of a bedbug hotspot then they can avoid that particular albergue in the short term until it has been cleaned and therefore reduce the chances of spreading the bugs down the line.
Of course it is...
Completly agree! Definately not irrelevant to me. I will frame mine when I stop moving around so much and have a spot to hang it. I think the idea of hanging it with the passport is a great idea (although how do you see both sides of the passport!!).
Hi everyone,
I had planned an Autumn hike along the Le Puy route but having returned to University as part of a career change i'm locked into certain times of the year where I am now free to hike.
I'm wondering if any of the camino's would be suited to a hike over Winter? I have previously...
I used the kestral 38 and would hike again with it any day of the week. Perfect size for the camino and others have already mentioned all the great features. Benefits of having a waterbladder in a seperate section is that its simple to fill up at fountains.
That's reassurring to hear! I hate the thought of booking ahead, i just want to walk and stop when and where I feel like it but had become worried by posts on here suggestion bookings were essential on the Le Puy.
I wish i'd thought of this whilst hiking! I would have happily payed for one every few days. At the albergue in Molinaseca I was given a foot massage by another pilgrim and I could have asked him to marry me right there, unfortunately he was a super fast walker and I never saw him again :D
Wow!!! My favourite day on the whole hike was crossing through the snow in the pyrenees, perhaps I need to do the hike in winter also. What a challenge that would be! I imagine it would be a lot slower going..
Re: WALL MAP. CAMINO FRANCES
I'd like to find one as well! As I hiked I saw in a few of the albergues a rather cool looking one that was in 3d. I havent had much luck finding one yet :(
What drew you to walking the Camino Frances in the first place? If, like me, you were called to do it, then you should stick with your original plan. Why? because perhaps those issues you've raised such as rain and lack of solitude are exactly the reasons you are meant to face whilst on the...
