Did she receive a "compostella" at the end of her backyard pilgrimage? 😆
How far did she travel? What pack did she carry? Is that Spanish wine in that glass?
What a fun idea! I hope she enjoyed her journey!!
Sorry if I offended you in some way. No, it was a cloth bag. I laid it on the very top of the trash bin with hopes that someone would pull it out and use it. I was in the airport, leaving it laying exposed wouldn’t be a good idea and adding the extra weight to my backpack was not an option.
For my non-carry-ons I purchased a small bag for $2 (yard sale find) and checked that bag. At the airport I collected the bag, put the items in my backpack and threw the $2 bag in the trash.
A great time to come is the end of April/beginning of May. That is when all the Derby festivities and the Kentucky Derby happen! Its a 2 week party for a 2 minute race! :D
I'm a 'big girl.' This is the bra I wore when walking the camino. I bought them specially for the trip and continued to wear them when I got home!

Wasted weight! I used a Bandiwear belt. It worked perfectly for passport, cash, and phone.
Take a multi-purpose hook in the shower with you. Just don't forget it in the 2nd albergue you stay in, like I did!
Oh, well. I am sure some other pilgrim made use of it!
Buen camino
I walked a short Camino last September on my own. The worst I suffered was rude comments because I am not the typical pilgrim. I am not a size 2 and I am not athletic, but I managed to walk 11 miles a day. There were times that I was completely alone, but most of the time there were others...
Thank you for all the great posts!
I finished the CF just 3 weeks ago and I am already planning my next Camino! Very interested in the CP and all these wonderful posts have greatly influenced my decision........CP in '18!!
Thanks everyone,
Melissa
I just returned two weeks ago. My flight from SdC to Madrid was scheduled for 6:30 am. The kind people at the Santa Clara Hotel arranged a taxi (20 euros) for me at 5:15 am. I was told if I arrived at the airport any earlier there would be no one there but me and the taxi driver! Lol! I arrived...
Hello All!
I am fairly new to this forum and not too savvy at navigating the search feature. I leave the US on September 15th for my Camino and I am ready to go! I would however like any information I can get on using debit cards along the way. Could someone please post links to this...
Thanks for the information Castilian!
I was being a bit facetious, I don't intend on cancelling or letting someone else's bad experience sway me from going. Since this is my first Camino and nothing to compare it to, how will I know that it is crowded or not crowded? I intend to walk and enjoy...
Well, geez Jennifer.........I already have my airfare for September to walk from Sarria to SDC! Should I cancel and stay home? You make it sound absolutely miserable. :( And I have really been looking forward to this journey.
Thanks Waka!
I tried to arrange my schedule so I could arrive and start on a weekday, but it just wouldn't work out. I will arrive on a Friday and start on a Saturday. So be it, I will make the best of it! Thanks for the advice and encouraging words!
