GPS vs Smart Phone for route tracking

Mytracks current version is acting strange on my new Nexus. How much do those solar panels weigh? More or less then an external battery? At €40 you can get a battery big enough to recharge a large phone at least a couple of times. A smaller phone likely for most of the week. Just need to...

    Portable food choices

There are proteins in most things. 100 grams of bread will be about 10 grams. 100 grams of hard cheese closer to 30. You're at about 40 grams with a cheese sandwich. Grab a couple of cups of yogurt in the morning and you're more then half way to that 100 gram target. OTOH if you're walking...

Paying household bills while on the Camino

Depends on your bank. Knowing my account number and password isn't enough to log into my account. The bank issues a device that generates a random second level password. With out the device you won't get far.

    Why Spain?

IIRC there are genes that are only passed mother/daughter and I assume father/son.

    Maintaining strength training on Camino.

    1) If you're going to be walking a fair bit the last thing you should be considering is more work. A serious strength work out can leave you tired for days. It's not unusual for people to have slight injuries in addition to normal fatigue. 2) The fact you're asking about upper body sends...

    380gms! lightweight 35 litre pack

I do some thing similar. I have a few smaller light weight packs. (10 to 20litres) They fold flat and take up almost no space in my carry on. Not much more then a shirt. When I arrive it comes out and is used to carry a water bottle etc. I wouldn't fill any of them up with heavier items. They...

    Gadgets on the Camino

Do you need something more then the way Flickr does mapping? https://www.flickr.com/photos/rocket_italia/map That's my flickr. You can see the map from that link. I don't use the app to upload (I use Lightroom) but my understanding is the app uploads the GPS info. On the tripod. You know...

    Gadgets on the Camino

My phone has two different sets of maps on it. So sure I use maps. Strange question.

    Gadgets on the Camino

If you need a real sport watch I'd suggest looking at the Polar models. Polar has been making sport watches for twenty years and has various models aimed at different sports and different training levels.

    Gadgets on the Camino

Samsung is claiming both new Galaxy 6 models are back ordered. So I doubt it'll be easy to find for quite awhile. It just went on sale in Europe yesterday. Isn't the Motox the phone the new Nexus 6 is based on? The Nexus 6 is bigger and stock Android. The Nexus 6 is still in short supply (At...

General Europe Question: How long can you stay?

The 14 days mean the first 14 days (France and Spain) fall off and no longer count against you. Why are you jump back and forth so much?

General Europe Question: How long can you stay?

It's a rolling 180 day window. In any 180 day period you're allowed to be in the zone 90. Are all the countries on your list in the Schengen zone?

General Europe Question: How long can you stay?

Not if you're resident in Canada.

General Europe Question: How long can you stay?

The return needs to be before the 90 days. If it's after it's going to be considered proof of intention to over stay. I routinely have trips in the future. I have one next week. On the desk I have the boarding passes for the flight. This flight was booked last June.

General Europe Question: How long can you stay?

The airlines are responsible to make sure any passenger can enter . If you don't have a valid return ticket then you aren't really allowed to enter. http://www.esteri.it/mae/en/ministero/servizi/stranieri/ingressosoggiornoinitalia/mezzi_finanziari That's the Italian website but it's the same...

General Europe Question: How long can you stay?

If you're Canadian then the rule for the Schengen zone is 90 out of 180. Will they bother you? The airline in Canada should in theory stop you. They might not. On arrival somebody might check. You might get stopped for some reason by the police and they might notice. The main risk is the airline.

Help! Blisters between the small toes?

You can get blisters any place that things rub. Do you actually mean between the toes? Not the top or bottom of the toe? Doesn't that mean the toe boxes of your shoes are too small?
