This is the first time I've heard about sometimes needing to leave backpacks at the front door....how often is this the case on the Frances? This will definitely change how I'm organizing if it's more than just occasionally.
Hi everyone. I'm just wondering if it's a good idea to put your name on all your things (pieces of clothing, towel, backpack, toiletry bag, etc....to avoid something accidentally getting picked up by someone else?

Thank you for this....is that true even for the ponchos with arms like the Altus and Decathlon Arpenaz? I'd decided on one of those because they protect your backpack from the rain, but may reconsider. Thanks for the input.
Thanks for the info, J Willhaus. And wow, you are very lucky to only have had 20 minutes of rain across multiple Caminos! Hopefully, we will be lucky as well. I think I will skip the gaiters.
I will be walking the Camino through all of May and into June, and I have narrowed down my rain choice to one of 2 ponchos: the Altus or the Decathlon Arpenaz. I understand I can reserve an Altus in SJPDP if I decide on that one. Any thoughts on which of these is better? And second question...
Thanks for the input, Chrissy. The issue for me is that I want to be able to use whatever second shoe I bring for both shower and evening wear. I may be best with just a pair of slides that can accomodate socks if it's cold.
