A few more nitpicky points. The CR in Piñeiro, which I am not familiar with, is 750 m off camino according to gronze. I don’t see any advantage to foregoing a chance to stay in Torre Vilariño, the very first Casa Rural in Galicia (or maybe Spain), inaugurated by none other than the one and...
Thanks all! Let me try to get my head around the Monforte-Chantada stretch.
First, Monforte doesn't sound unmissable to me as an overnight stop (El Greco is not a big enough draw). Though the problem with continuing further is that the timing won't be right the next day to see inside this...
That would also give time to head to the miradouros on the way, though maybe not time to walk your 6km loop (which should change now anyway to include Miradouro II).
This is also very feasible. I got to Diomondi after walking from Monforte and taking the detour out to the miradouros. My plan...
Second what Laurie says.
And ... you could drag your feet or have a lazy morning at Torre Vilariño, and get to Diamondi by, say, 12.30. That gives time to take in the outside and then see the inside - and then go down to Belesar and up to Chantada long before dark.
I think Monforte is a very nice town, good ambiente, pilgrim office!, good restaurants, nice parks, several albergues (although both are a bit out of the center, one back by the train station and the other about 700 m on the way out according to Gronze). The main tourist attraction, other than...
...there is Ruta Teresiana which takes you to close to Salamanca at Alba de Tormes. May be easier to follow that route (signs/accomodation etc)

And this thread

...the stretch from Trinidad de Arre to Logrono was *very very* busy. I stayed "off stage" in places like Uterga, Villa Major de Mojardin, and Torres del Rio and avoided booking until the people in the Dutch albergue in Monjardin advised me to secure a room for the next day in Torres del Rio...
Monforte is a nice town, a big town, and I did a short stage there because I had reservations in the parador and wanted to explore the city more. I wound up not going on the Escolapios tour (El Greco will never be a huge motivator for me, and the rest just didn’t seem so compelling). I had bad...
The Torres del Oueste on the rio Ulla, taken this morning on the boat from Vilanova de Arousa to Pontecesares on the Variante Spiritual of the Camino Portuguese.
The Hotel Torre de Núñez I am thinking of is close to the Via Kunig route just outside Lugo. Its more than 30km away from Ferrerios on the CF (the Sarria to Portomarin section). Using the directions feature on Google maps it's a 30 minute drive. So it I'd well off route and a fair distance to...
Has anyone used this hotel? It is near Ferrerios on the Camino Frances. How is the hotel and is it close to the Camino? Found it on Google Maps but I can't determine how near to the Camino.
...in Portuguese, English, French and Spanish.
The "new" Central/Fátima switching variants, heading North, are :
Entroncamento > Fátima via Torres Novas
and
Fátima > Areias via Seiça (this looks particularly practical, though the waymarkers would be pointing in the "wrong" direction)

I walked this route a few years ago, 2016. If you have time (and you like that sort of thing) there is an excellent museum in Potes in the torre del infantado, a medieval building in the centre of the town with an exhibition on the life and works of Beatus de Lebaniego which I thought was...
...and it was great because it took me to a lot of out-of-the-way parts of the casco histórico.
As for walking from Salamanca, I think the Torres/Geira is a great idea. I walked starting on September 8 (holidays that week in Salamanca, which I really enjoyed!). My blog is here if you’re...
Their website has been down for a couple of weeks. I was hoping to use email or WhatsApp because my Spanish is pretty basic. Guess I’ll have to muddle through. 😅
I just stayed in La Torre a few weeks ago, and it’s fine, clean and basic. They do not use WhatsApp, so you have to call them on the phone. If you want a room with a bath, make sure to say so. Otherwise, they may assume that as a Pilgrim, you just want the cheapest option, and they have several...
