Lost & Found Lost passport and credencial between Roncesvalles and Zubiri

If you get them back, be sure to fill out the ID info in the credencial and include e-mail and phone #. A good idea to write this info on one of the passport pages too. I hope you recover them. Also use a sticky label, write any pertinent ID info on it and stick it on the back of your phone...

Fab photo. I've only ever seen one once on Camino...just before Manjarin... probably same type of snake although my photo only really shows the snakes tail trying to get out of my way nice 1

Manjarin: Tomás Martinez de Paz, the last templar

Thank you for this. I have often wondered what happened to Tomas. I met him in Manjarin on my first Camino in 2001. I probably have a photo, but only in print, so would need to digitize first.

Manjarin: Tomás Martinez de Paz, the last templar

Everybody who has walked the Camino Francés knows the albergue in Manjarin. An albergue for six pilgrims, without water and electricity, but full of hospitality. Tomás Martinez de Paz started this albergue in 1993 in an old, abandoned school in Manjarin. Recently the roof has collapsed, in...

    News from the Camino

By the way, I read some fair and interesting comments on another thread begun by someone regarding the "€12,000 fine" reported here. Sadly, as usual, there were also a couple of patronizing and frankly rude comments too. And a slanderous one. I wish people would realize how they come across...

    News from the Camino

I'm happy to hear Tomas is back greeting pilgrims up at Manjarín. Many (myself included) assumed he was no longer active up there.

    News from the Camino

My first SPRINGTIME days on the Camino Francés 🎉 A couple of interesting tidbits. I just left Foncebadón yesterday. See photo. By the way, it's really not busy at all on my "wave". Plenty of spare beds. 1) I passed Manjarín. It was a beautiful, clear and mild morning. Tomás (looking in fine...

Need help to stay away from rocky trails

...boulders. (The boulders seem to get cleared away into piles from time to time.) #3. The descent into El Acebo, which is west of Manjarin which is itself west of Foncebadón. Steep narrow path, unstable loose rocks and stones. I find it difficult to walk that section. Possible #4. When I...

    Atypical/memorable albergues on Camino Francés?

Casa de Jesus in Vilar de Mazarife has a ship of some kind in the yard and is a very nice albergue. I have fond memories of my stay there. Not sure if that is the one you are referring to.

Oh. I feared as much. What happened to Tomás, do you know? :-(

    Atypical/memorable albergues on Camino Francés?

I stayed at both of these way back in 2009 and they were both great and very special. We had one of our most joyous evenings at Manjarin. I don't think it's open anymore, though. There used to be a really cool albergue that had a pirate ship. Does anyone remember which one that is and if it's...
