Keep in mind that many Pilgrims have delayed their journey. There will be many pilgrims hoping for Albergues along the way. Hostals and Hotels are the other options.
Plan carefully but do not oppose changing your distance. Since Albuergue space is limited this year, you may want to carry a tent.
Be advised that el Norte is not easy.
I did it in my 70s
Buen Suerte
My preference has always (5x) to do it alone b/c really you are never alone.
Medical Servicrs in Spain, Portugal, and France are excellent but buy evacuation Insurance just in case.
I am also 80 this year and swim or walk everyday. Thinking of a short one with my poles and having my backpack transported. No need for a Compestella. I have 4 😀
Await some suggestions.
Sister Marie Asunción had a Saintly voice. Heard her in 09, ‘10 ‘12 ‘14
I had a nice conversation with her when I requested to do a Reading during the Mass. She loved that I volunteered eventhough my Spanish was Not perfect.
Missed her in 2019.
Brought mine back in backpack from New Zealand.
Never again will my backpack be in my house.
Store it in black plastic bag in my garage.
Expensive to eliminate. Get policy that includes recheck and treatment every 6 months.
Worth the expense.
I also was born in ‘41 and have been blessed with good health except for Athritis. Now I walk shorter distances and have my pack sent ahead. Will do it as long as I am Blessed with good health.
