Carry less ... less is better!! You don't need much, lightweight quick drying clothes, one change of clothes, and a pair of lightweight shoes for evening ... keep your pack weight 6-7 kilos (I did and I was carrying a straightening iron ... I know... but some things you just gotta have!)...
Thank you all for such wonderful recommendations... very helpful. I just love this forum!! Ossiemate, your question is one I can help you with ... "the weather will do what the weather will do". In April 2013 (SJPP to Logrono) we had snow, rain, gale force wind, and landslides... In...
Forgive me if there is an obvious answer to this question.. I have not found it on the forum... My son and I are completing our camino next April, 2015.. walking from Santiago to Finisterre (have already walked SJPP to Santiago over last 12 months).... just wondering ... when we return to...
We are completing our Camino (stage 3) from Astorga heading out next weekend. Up until now we have managed without an Altus, but from what we have read on this forum, perhaps we will need them for last stage into Santiago. Does anyone know of a shop where we could purchase in Astorga upon arrival?
Thank you so much everyone for your wonderful help and ideas. Thanks Margaret, I have managed to secure accommodation in Complexo Xacobeo so now I have to get to work on O'Cebreiro... I will check out all the other places that all of you have so kindly suggested. Jillmom how old is your son...
Thanks girls .. Margaret .. Why is it a hard slog from O'Cebreiro to Triacastella ? It's only 21ks ... Is it because it's downhill? Kanga ..loving the octopus already. Jo
I am walking with my 15 son the week before Easter and have decided to stay in private accommodation. We have booked from Astorga to Santiago and having no luck with O'Cebreiro and Triacastella. The San Giraldo de Aurillac has advised they are full (ALREADY!!) and suggested somewhere in...
Hello again.. Help?? We are completing our Camino in April .. Our third stage Astorga to Santiago (yay!). As it is Easter week we are keen to pre-book accommodation for the last stage beyond Sarria .... (we were "accommodation challenged" a couple of times last September, so don't want to take...
Olivares ... I feel your pain ... I am planning stage 3 of my Camino Frances that I have been walking with my 15 year old son over last 12 months ... I can't even imagine what I will have to look forward to once we reach Santiago ... Bittersweet finale!
Renshaw ..... your friend is about to...
None of your questions are silly or obvious, we all started somewhere and this forum will provide you with the answers. Great advice has already been provided to you, but I just wanted to comment that the only place we got lost/confused?? was leaving SJPP and we walked to Orisson... but once...
Hi Victoria... we used Hotel Maisonnave.. if you stay just one night they will allow you to leave luggage in their storeroom ... which is very safe. The hotel is also in a great central area of Pamplona. We started our Camino in Pamplona... left our case at the Hotel. We changed over to...
We are about to start second leg of our Camino (Logrono to Leon) in 3 weeks. Due to time restraints (and existing itinerary) we must get from Burgos to Leon in just 5 days ... Not ideal, but we need to fit in with Australian school holidays and is the best we can manage timewise for this trip...
Hi Nancy, thanks for the advice... I actually came to this conclusion myself thanks to the help of other's questions on this forum ... silk sleeping sacks have been ordered!! And yes... definitely will partake in a tapas or two! Jo
