I found that many of the “professional” signs to be off with their distances along the Levante. But if you have a daily goal of which town you want to end up at, well, the distance is just gonna be the distance it is. Could be a pain though if you are planning as you go. My advice after doing...
I did the de levante/sanabres in 2021 and found no English guide for the de levante section. I bought the German one by Stefan Markschies. Although I speak and read zero German, I did find the maps useful enough to get by coupled with some google maps satellite help when required for...
Hi,
Plan to do the de levante/Sanabres route nextvyear if I have enough money. How can I view your live messages? Did the French way last year, and budgeted €40 a day, which was plenty. How does the Levante route compare price wise? Are the albergues more? Many thanks.
Ok, so I was planning to do the Portugese route next year, but, might be able to get the funds together to do the Camino De Levante/Sanabrés route. Now, does the Camino Sureste and the De Levante routes follow the same path for most of their route? Does the Sureste stop at the start of the...
The train I was supposed to get at 21:10 on Friday evening was cancelled. However there was a replacement bus service that got us into St Jean at 22:40. He parked to the right of the station if you are facing the station. He excepted my prepaid train ticket.
If you want inspiration re your fitness, then follow Andywild's blog. He's a cigarette drinking, beer eating, pizza and kebab smoking dude who has nearly finished his Camino. You should be able to find the link on this forum somewhere. Sorry, not very good with the tech!
Hi, I'm starting on June 2nd from St Jean and flying into Biarritz. Then getting train from Biarritz to Bayonne and then Bayonne to St Jean. Guess you can get a taxi to Roncesvalles from St Jean. Pre bought tickets online for trains. Check out train strike dates before you book. There are...
Hi jessica. If you start in St Jean, then you'd get some nice varied scenery. You could get to Burgos in 2 weeks comfortably. If you start from Burgos you'll have the Meseta for about a week straight away. Quite flat. And then a week into the hills. If you want to get a compostela in Santiago...
hi Lucy, I'm planning on getting to the Pilgrim Office in St Jean at opening time (or before, to queue) and heading out straight away. I'm a brisk up hill walker if I need to be and plan to be ahead-of-the-crowd en route to Roncesvalles. Would you say I would still need to reserve a place in...
Hi Rich1, glad to hear it went well. Can you say what went wrong after Moral? It's after that village to the next that has flummoxed me with the Brierley directions. Any pointers? How long didn't it take you? Many thanks.
Will be starting a day after you from St Jean and will also be finishing at Finisterra on 5th July. This will be my first also. A beer be had if I catch up with you. Have a great one out there.
OK, so not much cheaper than the albergue over the road. Maybe worth walking on to Fonfria then. Only 9 euros. Wanted a light walk from Herrerias after Dragonte route, but hey ho, I'll do the extra 3km if it means I can afford myself a bottle of the red stuff.
