Try Topos. Similar zero drop. I like both, but prefer Topo. I started with Altra. I mostly wear Topo now. They have hiking boots, trail runners and regular running shoes. I wore these Trailventure 2s on my Camino last fall. See link. Looks like similar men’s shoes go up to size 15 on their...
I was at a similar level to you before I did get more serious about Spanish. I did Duolingo and found it very helpful. For a couple of months before I left I added Preply to get in more speaking. My tutor was Raquel Lorente on Preply. I highly recommend her. She is Spanish from Andalucía, but...
I hiked the Camino/Primitivo Oct 2023. I typically started looking for a rest stop around 3-4 after starting in the morning. However, there weren’t always facilities. Still would stop and have a snack and rest for a bit. In the afternoon, it was a bit more frequent, probably every 2-3 hours. I...
I'm much better with long sleeves and long pants or capri length. I'm a big fan of Kuhl's light weight hiking material. REI has some good ones as well.
I've worn this on multiple hot weather hikes: https://www.kuhl.com/kuhl/womens/long-sleeve/sojourn-ls/?color=Light%20Khaki. You can roll up...
I felt the same as you. However, this last October I needed to save some weight and my REI zipoffs were the solution. It ended up being cold and rainy so I wore them as long pants almost exclusively. They worked well. They were lightweight and no rubbing or chafing. I was happy to have them.
Years ago I was hiking in Utah with an experienced hiker and several. Others. We had to cross a stream. U.S. newbies took off our shoes and socks and waded across. A few minutes later, we had to cross another stream. Our friend said, it’s better just to get wet and don’t worry about it. After...
I don't like extra cushioning on hiking trails. I do want a plate, but you (I) need to feel the trail. However on part of the Norte there is a lot of pavement. sp Trail runners wold be better then. I hiked over 2 years. In 2022 from Irun to Llanes. There I used a Topo trail runner. This year in...
I used Topo Trailventure 2. They are 11.7 oz. I thought they were extremely comfortable. Here's a link: https://www.topoathletic.com/w-trailventure-2?quantity=1&color=162
One other suggestion, I would have. Calculate your distance ahead of time, if you haven’t gone one a main route. I went on the Norte/Primitivo from Irún through Oviedo over last year and this year. The volunteer didn’t know the kms. My husband went from LLanes on the Norte through Irún with me...
I had one of my BD poles locking mechanism break last year while on the Camino del Norte. Couldn't get it fixed. Fortunately I only had two days without it. When I got home and called BD they said it was out of warranty ( 6 yrs old), but they did give me a 60% discount on my current poles.
I...
As we were hiking to Arzúa today a lot of runners passed us. I spoke to a couple who said they were competing in a race to Santiago.
I looked online, but couldn't find any details.
Can someone tell me where to find information about the race? Where it started, how many km, etc?
Bars are few and far between. I've booked ahead for accomodations. There area lot of people at most of the places we've stayed. They booked ahead also.
I'm on the Primitivo right now in Lugo.
1) I've seen 10-30 people every day.
2) Seems like it. A few are closed
3) hasn't been too cold until a few days ago. It's supposed to be rainy and chilly for next 4 days.
4) one very rainy day, but not cold. Last couple of days. Mostly mist. Heavier rain...
