I was 75 when I walked the CF. I always kept walking days to under 25 klms so Molinaseca, Cacabelos,Vega de Valcarce and then on through O Cebreiro to Santa Maria do Poio.
I dont remember the climb to O C being at all difficult.
This was not my experience at this albergue in 2015. At exactly 6am an operatic aria boomed through the sound system. Everyone was pushed out the door by 7,30 am.
After this experience on the CF I changed to private accommodation and only stayed in an albergue if no private rooms were available...
They provided free transport for myself and three other members of my group from Gatwick airport to the flat we had rented through them in London last year.
The car was ready and waiting for us on arrival as arranged.
That is the itinerary that we walked. I was 83 last year and did not find it too difficult. The path to Neda is very easy. I found the climb after Fene challenging but thereafter ok.
My backpack was only about 4k and I didnt try setting any speed records. If your mum has a reasonably level of...

The next...

Jungleboy, with respect your statement "most people would not agree with that" does beg the question. Walking the caminos is a very personal thing and each person looks for different experiences.
All the people in my group loved to enjoy the Portuguese culture experience along the way, not just...
I am in my eighties but try to walk at least 8 klms six day a week. Even with this level of fitness I still found the first four days of a camino last year challenging. Thereafter I did not have any problems with 20k days.
I was 75 when I walked to O Ceibero and i did not find it difficult. However, after walking for almost 4 four weeks from SJPP I was very fit for long climbs.
