At last we have been able to load a 2 part video of our experience in 2009 onto our blog

There are also links to see them on You Tube on the blog site or just look up Ian and Caths Camino May and June 2009
Buen Camino and bring on 2018 when we plan to walk the Le Puy route
After completing our Camino (STPDP to SDC) in 2009 it has been with us every day. At the end we were sore, tired and spent. Our final 3 days at Santiago saw the circles become complete as we caught up at various stages with all our friends made along the way (some who had arrived before us and...
Hi all
Thought it worth noting that my wife and my have 'found' our credentials. After being convinced they were gone this has been great news for us and we now have taken copies and put the originals behind glass and hung on the wall.
The guidebook is just that. Only be guided by it. Don't let it rule our experience. I suggest you do what you want each day. My wife and I tried to follow the guidebook but after 7 days made the decision to reduce our daily k's each day to about 15 to 20. This immediately improved our aches...
My wife and I completed our first Camino SJPP to SDC in May andJune of 2009. The experience changed our lives and has inspired us onto many more adventure experiences since. We hope to complete the Le Puy to SDC in 2018 or 2019 health and finances permitting.
We recently moved house and have...
I used walking poles in 2009 on Camino but also on a variety of other walks over the years including long distance non stop charity walks and wilderness overnighters.
I find them fantastic in taking some of the pressure off my knees on downhill, help me keep balance when on rough terrain and...
I guess everyone needs to find their own preference. We have walked in many countries and thousands of kilometres including the CF in 2009 with our Deuter 32 as described with the ventilation gap and can't speak highly enough. We will be using them again in 2014 as well. As many have said in...
Hi all
We have been part of the Class of 2013 for the past 9 months or so but have today needed to make the call to postpone our next Camino to 2014. Our intention had been to start at STPDP on April 21st. We won't know our new departure date in 2014 for a while yet. Good luck to all of the...
Hi there
We are travelling around Europe by train for about 4 weeks after our Camino.
We start walking in St Jean about April 20 and hopefully will be ready to move on from Santiago (first to Porto) at the end of May. We will have our Camino backpack and one relatively small case ( airport type...
Ok pilgrims
Seems there is some interest in a get together walk so I am suggesting for those that want to meet, a short (about 15 k) walk this coming Sunday.
Meeting point is the cafe on the esplanade opposite the end of Pickles street Port Melbourne at 9 am.
I suggest we take a slow walk...
Watch out for snakes on that Kilcunda walk. It's great but lots of long grass I recall. Especially this time of year.
Have a great time on the island.
Ian
There is a good circuit walk in the Werribee Gorge state park (entry just past Bacchus Marsh on the Western Highway) It's about 10 to 12 k's but has all sorts of terrain and surfaces. Plus it's far more picturesque than most people imagine. We have seen koalas, wallabies and a lot of bird...
Hi Nicole
You sent Cath and I a personal message but I can't seem to be able to reply via the personal message process (it just does up with an error message)
Perhaps if you send me another personal message with another email address I can reply to that
Happy new year
Ian
So true. Sometimes I feel my whole being relax as I begin walking (anywhere).
Then when I arrive my body starts urging me to move on down the next path
I think I may have put this up before but there is a detailed diary written by my wife Catherine and a series of picture stories of our Camino in April and May 2009 at -
http://www.walkingtotheend.com
We aim to do regular entries and pictures via free wifi and ipad on our April 21st 2013...
All the tickets bought.
Arriving St Jean 20th April after a week in Ireland
Commence walking the 21st April, 2013
Hope to walk all the way to Finisterre by May 29th ( have 39 days but hope for slow walking and several rest days)
Bags almost packed
Count down now in serious mode and training...
Ryan air to Biaritz from London Stansted is the way to go ( can get to Stansted by tube)
Cheap as well. Watch the conditions on the ticket though so you don't get stung on check in. Then bus to station and train to STPDP
We hope to commence about same time as you but are considering the tunnel...
You should be able to get one of those at any international airport. In Australia and New Zealand you can also get them at most outdoor shops as well
