Sorry for what have happened Robin. Very sad and unfortunate I know. Similar sad and ugly event happened to me almost two years at Torres del Rio in Hostal Rural La Pata de Oca. My son and I placed our rucksacks early morning of our departure at the designated place for transport inside the...

Where to stay from Tui to Pontevedra

I really enjoyed an alternative to O Porrino. I walked from Tui to Os Eidos and stayed at Casa Alternativo. The Host Dries is wonderful and provides the full experience. However it was only an 8 km walk, but I too was not in a hurry. From there I walked to Rua Mos (Dries will give you...

Walking through Portugal via Camino Nascente and Torres

...but GPS backup was helpful in a few spots. We booked our lodgings in advance, which worked out well for us. There's also a good luggage transfer service (https://www.vicentinatransfers.pt/) in case you're interested. I hadn't heard of the Nascente/Torres trails before, so will look them up!

Tips for two weeks time !

I agree with several of these!! Casa de Carolina and Quinta da Quinhas were both great, as well as O Lugar de Jesus. Another suggestion is La Cala Inn, in Oia. Amazing location on the coast and next to the monastery, and Tanya is a fabulous and generous host who prepared such an amazing evening...

Tips for two weeks time !

Hello! Hola! Ola! I’m wondering if any of the above mentioned places provide private rooms with bedding? I would love to stay in an Alberg with my 9yo but am weary of not having privacy, and also, we’re not traveling with bedding. Thx!!

LIVE from the Camino CF April 2024

...or heat stress (trust me, I'm Australian). For those behind me, please note the trail in this section is very exposed without much shade. Dress for conditions and take lots of water. The last place to refill is at the cemetery just past Torres del Rio. Walking a short day to Logrono tomorrow.

Tips for two weeks time !

Gators for the sand are a good idea but you probably only need them in a few places, depending on sand shifting. A few albergue suggestions: Casa de Carolina at Anha Quinta da Quinhas at Vila Praia de Ancora (and walk up the hill to the restaurant) Then I went inland at Caminha to Valenca and...

Are you 70+ and still walking Caminos?

...I have walked three caminos since I hit that milestone— Salvador/Primitivo in 2021 (when I had a camino-ending muscle injury outside Arzua); Torres/Geira in 2022, and Lana in 2023. Hoping for Serrana + Invierno in just a few days (with the Sevilla to Ponferrada part covered by train). I...

Bikini or not bikini, right now, Frances route

There are swimming pools in Redecilla, Cizur Menor and Hontanas… also a small one in the albergue in Boadilla and a (very) small one in torres del Rio (albergue la Pata y Oca) but not big enough to swim. Also a nice one in Puente la Reina (albergue Santiago Apostol)….

Which route between Caminha and Tui?

What an option! I know my feet will be sore by the time I reach SdC, don’t know if I want the rest of my body that way as well 🤣

Which route between Caminha and Tui?

I walked the original route from Caminha to Valenca in fall 2022 and loved it. I actually stayed Sao Pedro da Torre (Alvorada Medieval is an awesome albergue) which is a few km before Valenca. I stopped at Vila Nova de Cerveira for lunch so it is well supported. But it was a quiet walk and I...

Camino Portuguese, River route in Tui

Hi Lydia, I walked that way last April because of road Construction and getting a little lost. It was lovely, went along the River then through an old neighborhood and then around a church and monastery. I’m not sure how far I walked on it until turning back north but it was very nice and didn’t...
