I have been on the Frances a bit over three weeks now and haven’t had any issues finding space in albergues when I show up. Even during Semana Santa when I was told there would be a flood of Spanish walking during the week.
I reach Sarria in 2 days and will see if the situation changes for...
My wife and I left Villafranca del Bierzo this morning but stopped at Las Herrerías for the day. We wanted to be able to enjoy the view on the way up O Cebreiro and didn’t know about the snow.
I am currently walking the Frances and use both Wise Pilgrim and Gronze. The former has offline maps which have come in very handy for ensuring I haven’t strayed off the Camino. Gronze has been more accurate in terms of albergue hours and availability, which seems especially important in the...

My wife and I will start from SJPDP March 15th. From watching the webcams at Fuentes de Irache and Les Chalets de Iraty, it seems like the weather near our starting point has been fairly nice over the past several weeks -- not much rain or even snow. That's no guarantee we won't get pummeled...

Meh, my wife and I are planning to start from SJPdP in mid-March, and it doesn't seem like ALSA will be an option for us.
Thanks for mentioning this as an alternative. Looks like we'll need to investigate the taxi from Roncesvalles.
Words to live by!
Not sure we'll run into you, but my wife and I are hoping to start the Frances mid-March next year. We had intended to start last month, but health problems forced us to reschedule.

A search of RENFE's site suggests a more direct option from Pamplona to Sarria. It would have you going through Burgos and Leon rather than Madrid, leaving Pamplona at 13:24 and getting into Saria at 21:15, with a change of trains in Monforte De Lemos.
