A question on Kit for this time of year Leon - Santiago

Starting tomorrow, the weather in western León and Galicia will be dry for the next 10 days. And warm.

    Camino Frances April 2024 advice

I have been on the Frances a bit over three weeks now and haven’t had any issues finding space in albergues when I show up. Even during Semana Santa when I was told there would be a flood of Spanish walking during the week. I reach Sarria in 2 days and will see if the situation changes for...

LIVE from the Camino O Cebreiro Snow Today

My wife and I left Villafranca del Bierzo this morning but stopped at Las Herrerías for the day. We wanted to be able to enjoy the view on the way up O Cebreiro and didn’t know about the snow.

Wise Pilgrim or Buen Camino or both?

I am currently walking the Frances and use both Wise Pilgrim and Gronze. The former has offline maps which have come in very handy for ensuring I haven’t strayed off the Camino. Gronze has been more accurate in terms of albergue hours and availability, which seems especially important in the...

    Holy Week Experience

No processions, but I spent an hour helping some gentlemen set up floats in the church in Los Arcos. That’s been the highlight of my Camino experience so far.

    April 2024 Camino Francés

My wife and I will start from SJPDP March 15th. From watching the webcams at Fuentes de Irache and Les Chalets de Iraty, it seems like the weather near our starting point has been fairly nice over the past several weeks -- not much rain or even snow. That's no guarantee we won't get pummeled...

ALSA bus Pamplona to SJPDP - 2024 timetable announced and booking open

Actually we just booked a flight from Madrid to San Sebastian. We'll spend the night in Irun, walk across the border to Hendaye, and train from there to Bayonne and then SJPdP.

    Re-considering zip-off convertible pants

There's a store in Westbrook, just outside of Portland. That's a bit of a drive from Rockland admittedly.

ALSA bus Pamplona to SJPDP - 2024 timetable announced and booking open

Meh, my wife and I are planning to start from SJPdP in mid-March, and it doesn't seem like ALSA will be an option for us. Thanks for mentioning this as an alternative. Looks like we'll need to investigate the taxi from Roncesvalles.

    Camino Francés April 2024

Words to live by! Not sure we'll run into you, but my wife and I are hoping to start the Frances mid-March next year. We had intended to start last month, but health problems forced us to reschedule.

Booking tickets on the Renfe site

Did you by chance register as a user on the RENFE site? If so and you haven't done so already, try making the purchase without logging in.

Public transport from Roncesvalles to Sarria

A search of RENFE's site suggests a more direct option from Pamplona to Sarria. It would have you going through Burgos and Leon rather than Madrid, leaving Pamplona at 13:24 and getting into Saria at 21:15, with a change of trains in Monforte De Lemos.
