Having done several Caminos, this Christmas/New Year my wife and are planning to stay in a small Pueblo blanco called Comares, which is a mountain village 1 hours drive North East of Malaga. The main attraction is the mountain and hill walking which looks amazing. Anyway, my question is we...
I've just been talking to my wife who's been walking some of the Via de la Plata and is currently in Santiago on her way to Finisterra. I arranged to phone her at 7pm and she said she'd be the main square, Praza do Obradoiro, and hopefully I'd be able to see her on the webcam. The plan worked...
I got home to the UK from the Via de la Plata a month ago to be greeted by the wettest April on record after one of the driest Winters on record.
Whilst in Spain the temperatures varied from (max) 12 C to 28 C but now I can't quite believe what I'm seeing. The temps in Sevilla are around the...
I have been meaning to compile a gear list ever since returning from the Camino Frances last November.
On a previous Camino I had suffered from foot problems due to my backpack being too heavy and I realised that the only way I could significantly reduce my pack weight was to really apply...
I don't usually book ahead but given the recent Albergue closures and the fact that we will be walking during the Easter period it's probably sensible.
As far as I know the Albergue Turisticos that have closed are Fuente de Cantos, Zafra, Puebla de Sancho Perez and Torremejia
Leaving Sevilla...
In my search for lightweight guides for a recent Camino I found a few things that fit the bill perfectly. The first 2 are from websites that have a variety of downloadable/printable media:
http://www.caminoguide.net
This has a user friendly written navigation guide and has info on the history...
I've just seen the XC forecast for Burgos later this week and it's -10C min. at night and -3 max. during the day! Seems like most of Europe is shivering at the moment. Here in Salisbury it's +1 C and the first snow I've seen this winter is falling.
Are there any live blogs currently?
Andrew.
I walked from St Jean to Castrojeriz a few weeks ago and have just uploaded the photos to my blog.

I hope you enjoy them. Text will follow when I get time.
Happy New Year,
Andrew.
I walked from Belorado to Burgos today so am a little footsore, great walk though and some interesting conversations. The weather couldn't have been better given the time of year and I'm going to miss the Camino and all that it entails. Tomorrow is a relatively short walk to Hornillos then...
I'm finally packed! I thought I was more or less finished at the weekend but there are so many details to attend to not connected with walking The Camino.
By some miracle I've managed to keep my pack weight down to around 6 kilos (dry weight) by investing in some lightweight kit that can also...
I've just found this http://www.ipilgrimpodcast.com/ and thought I'd share it. It was posted a few days ago. It's nice to know the weather is still good. I'm off to the Camino Frances in a few weeks starting from SJPP so hoping it will remain so.

I've always struggled to find trekking trousers that fit my large thighs. I want stretch fabric but a loose cut that also looks smart enough to wear out to restaurants etc. I thought I was asking a lot but I asked the question anyway on a UK walking forum -...
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. It reminds me of some of those early starts on the Camino. Puts my photography to shame though.
I couldn't work out how to put a link here so I've put it on my blog:

I thought Id post this having read Johnnymans 'where to carry camelback' post
I used a 3 litre Source hydration bladder on the Vdlp and there was no problem in carrying it in my 38 litre Osprey Kestrel backpack. It has a hydration bladder sleeve (as do most if not all the Osprey packs) which is...
I thought this guy's blog might be of interest to some of the folk here. The content is interesting and he posts almost every day. There is also a lot of informed, concise info on gear particularly feet and footwear and it's just good to see the sun shining and the beautiful remote trails...
Not sure if they've done this before but Flybe will be flying from Southampton airport to Pau starting on 25th May 2011. I believe Pau is about 3 hours from SJ Pied de Port by train.

Hello everyone,
I´m sorry it´s taken a while to get my blog up and running.
I´m currently in Almendralejo which is slightly off the Camino between Villafranca and Torremegia. It´s all going well and you can read what´s happening on my blog:

Because I can´t read...
Did someone recently post a list of the Lista de Correos / Poste Restantes in main towns and cities on the VdlP as I can't find it by searching. Perhaps it was on another forum?
I'd like to leave the addresses with my wife in case I need something sent out.
Andrew.
