Walked the Camino Aragones last year and am doing Salvador and Primitivo this year (leaving for Leon tomorrow!). I will get the special Salvador credencial in Leon but I am wondering if I can use last year's credencial from the C Aragones (which has only been stamped about eight times) for the...
Interesting podcast from Irish radio station Newstalk about the camino from a well-informed panel including John Brierley.

Walked el Camino Frances in September so I have a pretty good idea of what to wear/bring on the Via de la Plata I am hoping to walk in 2009*. There are a few things I am wondering about though:

Why do pilgrims bring a shell with them on the walk to Santiago when (if I'm not mistaken) it is supposed to carried as proof of already having been there?
I'm Irish but I live in Spain and I hope to walk the camino this year starting in SJPP. My question is this: Is it necessary for me to bring my passport with me or will me NIE card suffice (a) to cross the French-Spanish border (twice) and (b) for any other admin/ID issues on the camino?
Just had a read of this forum and it looks like being really helpful preparing for my walk in September.
A minor query to start with:
The Irish Society of the Friends of St. James (another good website) are selling special credenciales for Irish pilgrims but they're €10. Has anyone got one...
