    Looking for a long walk?

No idea why people would send me things like this or why I would feel the need to share it on this forum?;)... “The longest straight line you can walk on earth without hitting sea, lake or water. (13,589 km / 8,443 miles)“...

    The albergue near a brothel?

Does anyone know the albergue that is in a small town on the CF? It is near a brothel called something like El Club that is much favoured by truck drivers. Please note the later is an assumption based not on personal experience but on the parking lot. The albergue is relatively small with a few...

    Dia de los Reyes

Happy three kings, peregrinos. Don’t forget to leave your shoes at the door! PS Some of the albergues will be keeping the kings pretty busy!

    New threads

Is there some way to expand New Threads in the same way that Treading threads can be expanded? There seems to be lots of new threads posted these days, (obviously because this forum is fantastic), that slip below the radar before I even get a chance to read them.

Using an atm or credit/debit card

Others may already know this but I didn't and was pleased to learn it. If you are not from an EU country, when using an atm or your credit/debit card on the camino, you are presented with an option to make the withdrawal/payment in local currency (ie. euros) or your home currency. Buen or bon camino?

Walked the Frances in 2015 when the most common greeting was 'buen camino'. Walked it again in spring this year and was interested to find that the most common greeting had changed to 'bon camino'. I stuck to 'buen camino' despite all odds!:p:p:p What's your preference?

What happened to the free lunch?

Queued inside the green doors at 12 pm as per instructions to get a free lunch at the Parador at Santiago. I'd earned it...believe me! Followed instructions posted on the internet and on the wall outside the green doors. Waited with half dozen other lovely folk of various nationalities. Noon...

    Valcarlos on a Sunday

All being well, I'll be getting to Valcarlos next Sunday afternoon. Do any of you wise folk on this forum know if I'll find a shop open on Sunday afternoon or evening to buy food for the next day's walk to Roncesvalles or should I stock up before leaving SJPdP?

    First lesson?

Yikes. Two weeks from flying out of Australia to do the CF and my washing machine has died. It wasn't that long ago on this very forum that I was writing about how much I liked handwashing and those serviceable Spanish wash tubs. Thinking this might be my first lesson for this camino.

Needing an excuse for a cerveza

Planning to start the Camino Frances from SJPdP on 2 April 2017. Have already made the decision to take the Valcarlos Route. Yay...scary fun!
