Thanks roblsch! I added the songs I used to my first post in case you're interested. I love to listen to music while hiking, especially on the harder bits. There have been quite a few times where I thought I was too exhausted to go on, then I listened to some songs and when the right one came...
Robo: I know, but I want to leave this video as it is. It's how I've been remembering the Camino for the past 2 years and it'd feel weird to change it up now, and I'd prefer to record myself talking about the Camino while actually walking it, so I'll definitely do that on my second journey to...
Hey CaminoDebrita & Robo,
yep, you're completely right, I should talk more! I tried it out in a recent video of my journey through Nepal/Indonesia and I really liked it, so it's something I'll be doing in the future, but since this video was made 2 years ago it lacks a bit of story. The initial...
It has been more than 2 years since I walked the Camino de Santiago from SJPDP to Finisterre. It was the first time that I was travelling on my own, and I was terrified. I didn't know whether I'd be able to make friends, whether I was physically up to it and whatnot, but there was also this...
I walked the Camino de Santiago all the way from SJPDP and even walked on to Finisterre in June 2013. Ever since that amazing experience my love for adventure has grown, but I haven't been able to add any new travelling experiences to the mix. On the 1st of June 2014 (exactly 1 year after I...
Wow, I felt broken when I started on my second day from Roncesvalles. To walk 46.2 km on that day would have been an impossible task for me (well, impossible is nothing, but it would have been very hard). I only reached the 45 km twice during my entire Camino. But if you set your mind to it...
I saw one of those! Luckily, a man walked by, picked it up and safely put it back into the bushes, right next to the water. I don't know what I would've done if someone just killed it.
Would you be interested in my sunset? The image has been resized for quick uploading to the Forum, so let me know if you'd like to use it and I'll upload the bigger picture.
I wouldn't recommend staying an extra day in SJPDP, but that's my own opinion of course. I arrived there at 9 in the morning and I found out that the route over the Pyrenees was closed. I HAD to go over, so I waited for an entire day in St. Jean. This was one of my worst days on the Camino...
Make sure that you get there in time though! When I arrived there around 9, the first train to SJPDP was leaving the next morning, so I had to get a hotel and spend the night there :( .
I know how you feel... Because I'm also starting in exactly 1 week!!!
Apart from my journey by train and the first night in an albergue in SJPDP, I didn't make any plans. I don't know which towns I'll be visiting, I don't know where I'll stop walking (although I expect to stop in Fisterra) and...
9 Nights before I finally begin! As always, I am 100% ready and there's nothing left to do but wait. Good luck on your Camino! Who knows where our paths might cross. :D
I trained a few weeks ahead of my Camino, but I got a bit too excited and went for bigger walks with 10kg in my backpack. Plus side: My filled backpack weighs 6,5 kgs and it feels very light because I am used to one weighing 10kgs. Down side: I injured my right leg and have been trying to heal...
Thanks fr the reply! I will buy my ticket at the station, and if I've had enough of trains for that day (I'll be riding them for about 12 hours!) I'll definitely stay in the htel across the station! :D
A small follow-up question:
Can I buy a train ticket at Bayonne for the next train towards st Jean Pied De Port? I've bought my TGV tickets, but I'd rather buy the ticket for my final train as I am actually standing on the Bayonne train-station. I don't know whether I'll be experiencing any...
Burn, Camino, Burn!
Sorry, I'm laughing way too hard at that obvious typo. :D
I put everything in my bag as well a few days ago. Everything's fine, but when I walk I make this strange squeeky sound with every step I take. If that keeps up it might get on my nerves after a while.
Imagine walking the Camino with that on your back.
I just packed my bag and it weighs exactly 8,0 kg (including 1 litre of water)! So I think I'm in the clear. :D
