Can we not bombard her with love, flowers and an extra euro?
Walking with Jesus is a wonderful thing, walking LIKE him is trickier.
(This from a Quixotic 'couchpilgrim' whose only Camino walking thus far has been his fingers across the keyboard!)
Thanks very much Laura and Sil (as ever), some good advice.
As I won't be travelling as far per day as others, it would be a good idea to wait until others have left. however, I think occasionally it would be nice to walk with people I have met the night before, even if it's just for half an...
although I have yet to do my first camino I would like to offer a somewhat tongue-in-cheek but ultimately practical response. I am male, but disabled and I hope you women out there do not mind me saying that you and I might be more kindred than me and able men?
I have been thinking about this...
I would like to get an idea of what to expect in the hostels? Are men and women seperated in different dorms or is it a more liberal arrangement?
The reason I ask is that I am a lower limb amputee and find it difficult to apply my prosthesis in the morning without being pretty much starkers...
.......I sometimes get words stuck in my head, some I'm sure I've never even heard of? Anyway, 'Orison' was pinballing around for a while. I looked it up and liked what I found. This was at a point in my life when I was at a crossroads and wasn't sure whether to walk The Camino or concentrate on...
Hi again, thanks for the suggestions. Orisson is a definate, with my username (which is another story) I would have to. Looking at a map it looks like the path runs alongside a road. Could anyone advise whether, if the worst came to the worst, I could simply call a taxi to take me to Orisson...
Hi and thanks for all the help,
re: prosthesis. Thanks Arn - I have a hydraulic leg. I also might have mentioned that I have soft tissue damage at the top of my stump, from carrying too much weight some years ago, so a cart is going to be the sensible route.
I have found a great organisation...
The subject of carts came up in another thread, so I have started a new topic.
I am a left leg above-knee amputee.
Does anyone have info/pics/experience/ideas of carts for the Camino please?
Many Thanks, Mark
I have added this new thread as SJPP to Roncesvalles is worrying me a bit. It is where I want to start, which is daunting in itself, but it also seems to be a formidable stage?
I am a left-leg above-knee amputee and would appreciate as much info as possible about this stage please?
Many...
Thanks again sillydoll and thanks jeff001.
The Godesalco site is great, but unfortunately does not include SJPP to Roncesvalles. Although sillydoll gives some info on this I would like a bit more. I really don't want to miss SJPP to Roncesvalles although sometimes I think I should? Bit of a...
Wow, fantastic! you are a doll but you're not so silly! Thanks.
My Spanish is not good enough to comprehend what you have found for me, but I do have Spanish speaking friends who might be able to help? Babel Fish I will try.
It's people like you who make the thing seem not so much of a dream...
Hi, firstly I would like to say that I love the French for 'disabled', being 'les autres', 'the others'. It sounds exclusive but with a little imagination it is actually inclusive..." we are all others, but some are more others than others".
I am a left leg above-knee amputee who is determined...
