Sleeping bag is a definite yes. My Girlfriend and I found on many days after walking she liked an brief afternoon nap. Route Napoleon closed in winter.

Take the advice of the people in the office at SJPP they want you to have a great starting experience, and Camino. Remember the goal is getting to Santiago safe and sound, not getting over hill via a specific route.

    Bedbugs at Belorado municipal

I was a Chief officer on Ocean going containerships at one time in my life. Running the house on the ships the bed bug issue comes up from time to time. Bedbugs dye at 140 degrees Fahrenheit or 60 degrees Celsius. You don't need to boil your items, just find a commercial lavanderia...

    Modesty on the Camino

I was not to surprised on our second night in Roncesvalles walking to the showers passing a topless woman milling around her bunk area talking on the phone thinking "oh in Europe it doesn't seem to be such a big thing?" That was the only time I witnessed that. Most people are generally modest...

    best earliest time to go

We walked this year starting on 01April2016. We had a wonderful experience, as did others we run into heavier traffic from Porto Marin / Sarria . We were fortunate weather wise: rainy cool spring this year, we had rain near us more than on us with only 8? plus days of rain. I heard grumbling...

Brierly Guide worst guidebook ever written?

Clearly the book didn't work for you. We used the same book and found it more accurate on the topographic parts than most other aids we had. We walked with an Australian couple who had downloaded a German version into her iPad. That seemed to be more accurate on all the dips and turns than most...

Post Camino can things ever be normal again?

We've been back for a little more than a month, we (Girlfriend and I) too are changed by our experience. People have asked us "what was the best part of your trip"? I don't answer that easily, but say you will have to go yourself. I have given a few people close to me a shell and told them...

Present State of Wayfinding - Valcarlos Route

I would advise to just train so you build a base. It seemed each time a significant hill or climb was ahead my fellow pilgrims and I would think well that is the last one thank goodness. Yet early on I found many towns are perched on tops of hills os your long walk was met by a final hill into...

Present State of Wayfinding - Valcarlos Route

I walked the volcarlos route on april 01 and 02 2016. The route was well marked, we walked mostly on pathways with some roadside walking. As others have posted the office will gladly help you. Portuguese Route Season?

I am planning a Camino for 2017, Lisbon to Santiago, April-May. Is there a typical season similar to the one formed on the Camino Frances? Now the "main season" is from 01 May to the end of October I think. I found the Camino Frances very nice in April May this year. Wet a bit but very good...
