Etiquette/ what to wear at churches

You should be fine with your evening attire - something to cover your shoulders (modest presentation). I would not over think this. The fact you have a curiosity/desire to experience all that your Camino will bring is all you need - being open to whatever will be. There were several places...

Camino Portugues, Coastal route from Porto - Itinerary help

Very helpful Stephen. Myself and 2 friends are planning to do the Coastal Route next May 2023 - in honor of each of our “milestone” birthdays. :-). Appreciate your photos and all that I am reading from other posts in response to Kristie. This will be my 2nd Camino (first back in 2016 on the...

LIVE from the Camino swollen painful feet

Yes…ice baths is great! Soaking your feet in cold water - icy - at end of day (or even if you pass a stream on your way), this helps quite a bit too. Even ice packs is helpful. All great suggestions!

LIVE from the Camino swollen painful feet

So sorry to read of your swollen feet. I had a similar problem with one foot - after 3-4 weeks of walking. Yes, drink lots of water. Needed to pause my walking for 2 weeks - took Ibuprofen (you can get 600mg at the pharmacy - they sell that dose over the counter and very helpful). Went to...

    New pilgrims From SoCal

Started from SJPP on Sept 4 and took advice to split into 2 days. Highly recommend contacting Orisson and being flexible with your start date (give them a couple of choices around when you want to start). This is what I did after they told me they were booked up for the day I had "planned" to...

Massage & Self Care on the Camino

one of my (many) intentions for my Caamino was for self care -- listen to my body, care for my feet, and pause my brain long enough to not "over do" but rather be present. I just completed my first week and will be leaving Pamplona tomorrow -- start to stage 4 (according to Brierley book). As...

    Shipping to Santiago de Compostella

I am starting the Camino in St. Jean Pied de Port. I've been told that Pilgrims can ship a box to Santiago to hold for arrival. Does anyone have experience with this (specifically shipping from St. Jean)? Would like to know where to send in Santiago and how long they will hold the package...

    Weather in September & October?

I am doing the Camino in September & October (2016). For anyone who has walked during this time frame, what is the weather actually like? From what I can glean in the books the highs could be from mid-70's (F) to mid 90's (F), with lows from mid-50's (F) to low 70's (F). Does this seem...
