    The Café/bar vs The Pharmacia (phar-MA-tzia}

    Ah, yes. Broke a tooth one evening. Walked on the next day, then asked at a Pharmacia if they had anything (mouth wash etc) to help. She suggest a nearby Dentist. Now that was fun: they had poor English (which, I hasten to add, was far, far better than my miserable Spanish). Anyway, injections...

    wine tasting on the Camino Frances

    The wine from the Fuente de Vino in Irache doesn't travel very well - even from the tap to the mouth. Not worth it. Take a sip, have a laugh, take a photo, move on. Biff

    Snowing in Burgos.

    I got a link to a French Weather Channel from a thread on this forum: http://fr.viewweather.com/w1781825-previsions-meteo-pour-col_de_bentarte-spain_general_.html The Col de Bentarte is warming up (although I guess it could cool down again!!) Regards, Biff

    It's about time we cleaned up that radioactive soil!

    To put this into some kind of context - a typical domesitic smoke detector reportedly contains 37 kBq (37 kilo Becquerels or 1 microCurie) of Americium (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americium). I have three of them at home!!! 'glow-in-the-dark' Biff

    It's about time we cleaned up that radioactive soil!

    Yes, it did seem strange that the entire fallout from Chernobyl seemed to land in Cumbria, in a semi-circle that centred by Windscale/Sellafield .......

    When did you first become 'camino conscious'?

    A couple of years ago I found a book in the local library - 'The Hairy Hikers'. They did a coast-to-coast walk along the Pyrenees (north to south, Altantic to Mediterranean). I thought it was a great idea. Mrs Biff did not!!! Young Miss Biff left home to go to University. Tidying her room, I...

    What about those pilgrim's meals?

    In Tui I saw 'Pilgrim Menu's' for €8 - egg 'n' chips type meal. Reasonable, I though, for a lunch. The Menu del Dia (quite substantial) tended to be about €12-14 all the way to Santiago, when a Pilgrims Menu turned into the Menu del Dia and was charged accordingly (€12-14)!! Biff

    Camino Beasties

    Good Morning All. There are a few threads going around about Lynx, Bears, Boars etc. Not that I saw any of them. I did, however, happen upon a Monster: A Beastie on the Portuguese by Biff posted Jul 19, 2015 at 1:01 PM I'm sure it's mother loves it! It is, in fact, a European Mole Cricket (I...
