On the Camino: One Day at a Time, one Photo at a Time 5.0

Unfortunately I can't find what I was looking for - a pic of my husband & I standing in front of the 100km-to-Santiago marker on the Camino Frances. When we reached the marker it was early morning, not quite light out, & we struggled to get a double-selfie given the low light. Along came 2 young...

Have you been married a long time?

My husband died in 2006 & when people asked me how long we had been married, I got used to answering instead: "He was my best friend for 32 years" (and we were married for most of that). We met, fell in love, got married & had children, though not in that order. I was heartbroken to say goodbye...

Top 10 Best Walks in the World

Just wondering if any of you have tried the new walking/hiking trails in the Balkans. We read this article in the Guardian last year & the Green, White, & Blue trails described there sound pretty inviting. However, we're not sure if they might be a bit too challenging for us. If you have tried...

Bedbugs - What is your blood type?

I'm another AB- , have not (so far) been bitten by bedbugs. On the other hand, dog fleas find me irresistable & I have a strong reaction to flea bites. Mosquitoes .... seems to depend on the species. Not that we ever see any mosquitoes here in Canada 🤣🤣🤣

    An Interesting Map

I am Canadian & "of an age" where I still remember using the Imperial system. But I studied science at university & the work was all in metric so it was easy for me to convert when metric came in. Still, the most challenging units conversion we face (IMO) is when we cross the border into the...

Starting a new kilt thread (it is February, after all!).

You can exercise your Canadian heritage without risk. All the provinces in Canada have their own tartan, as does the country as a whole. I know from experience that the Nova Scotian tartan is very popular in that province & is seen in many ways. Nobody will mind if you wear it.

Starting a new kilt thread (it is February, after all!).

Hmmm.... seems like there could be a good market for a special "Camino" tartan... ¿Es posible?

    Learning Basic Spanish

I have found the ed2go courses (https://www.ed2go.com/search?term=spanish) to be really good. Try the Speed Spanish level 1. It's online, fairly short, & inexpensive & I found ALL the spanish to be really practical & useful. The course instructor has a great sense of humour & the material is...

    Camino without any preparation?

Hi Riza! Like you, I have been interested in a Camino walk for a number of years. I mentioned it to my sisters once & we all agreed it was one of those things we wanted to do "sometime." And the years continued to go by... In the spring of 2010 I was having a lousy time at work. A co-worker was...
