thanks fellas. if the stars align, we will be veering off from San Vicente towards Lebaniego on the 2nd week of Sept. Yes, i see hotels but either they are temporarily closed or they are just full so we might do a roper-dope in accommodation meaning we stay in the place we stayed the night...
Hi LesBrass,
Is it ok if I ask where did you stay in 2020 in Cades and Cabañes on the way to Santo Toribio? I'm having a hard time looking for open albergues/hostels/hotels. Thanks for your help.
Hi,
We will be walking the Del Norte in a few weeks and we do plan to veer off to Camino Lebaniego up to Santo Toribio. Based on my current research, there's not a lot of accomodations that are currently open. Has anyone recently walked from San Vicente de la Barquera to Potes? How was your...
@Anamya - Hi, I thought there's an albergue right next to the Monastery of Santo Toribio which is managed/owned by the monastery. In fact, in my research you can actually call for reservation. Was it closed when you got there in your camino?
@RumAndChupacabras - I heard San Vicente de la Barquera is a very picturesque town. Why not start there :). It would be like walking from Summerlin ;)... just kidding

I would take the old route with an infrastructure (places to get a taxi, food, water, etc) than the river route (with occasional mud and streams to cross and no way to get a taxi just in case). For now, thats the plan plus i’ve heard the original route has beautiful views too. Just have to wear...
Hi Tom,
Thanks for the advise. It will be our 4th Camino and in all of those caminos, I learned to accept whatever the camino gives. That being said, my wife and I would rather walk in asphalt than muddy trails which slows you down. We’ve seen quite a few videos that shows plenty of mud in the...
Hi Tom,
We plan to do the Camino Lebaniego next year but we're debating whether to take the new route along the river which is not great based on the videos except for the waterfall or the older route which might have some better scenic views overlooking the mountains and perhaps the coast...
