We walked this about 5 years ago but in the hot weather. 42 celsius when we reached Cordoba. Looking at your pics brings back memories. Have you met many other pilgrims? We did not meet any at that time. Link below to a short video of that walk - Buen Camino.
We walked the Mozarabe from Almeria to Granada in June 2016 and did not see another Peregrino in that time so I unless it has become more popular it might be a fairly solitary walk. It was a great Camino but quite difficult at times, probably the hardest we have done, partly because of the heat...
Russ are you in Quentar? Following your comments with interest as my wife and I did the Mozarabe in 2017, but in July and it was a little warm. Did you meet many other peregrinos as I think we only met one on the whole camino
We did it in 2016 in May from Almeria- we were the only peregrinos on the route - there we resome a week ahead of us according to the Albuerge records but we saw no one else.
Yes Sue has the Natural Exhiliration and I have the Liquid Agility. Sue was using a Deuter before that for previous caminos but agrees with me that the AARN packs are so much better. I just wish there were other colours because we look at bit like Tweedledum and Tweedledee especially when we...
We used a combination of Kevin O'Briens pages available on this site under resources I think. We also bought the Camino Mozarabe guide published by the friends of the Mozarabe. From memory I think we bought a copy at the Pilgrim office in Almeria. Good little booklet with lots of info but in...
You might like to check out this little video we made of the Mozarabe. Difficult but satisfying Camino. Not a lot of other peregrinos though. We did it late May June and saw no one else. Definitely the road less travelled.
Oh forgot to say it did get warm about mid-day onwards so we did tend to start out as early as possible say around 6am. Saw Peregrina 2000's post and I still think early mid May ( on our experience) is ok. You just have to adjust your walking and carry plenty of water. I think the only issue...
No you should be fine. We started late May and went into June and it was getting hot then but apart from a couple of days not overly so. The one leg that we had difficulty with was the day before we got to Granada when we finished at Quentar. That was a long day and no stops or water on the way...
Yes - this was the day where, out of the whole walk we started to worry. Running out of water, long ascents and descents and very rough path going down. The walk through the old talc quarry was an adventure in itself. Quentar hostal was so welcome after that day. I think all up it took about 10...
Joe took us about 20 days all up with a couple of nights in Granada and Quentar ( recovering as that day was hot and hard). Most of way is well marked but there is one section where we went off track because we followed some blue fletchas. Cost us half a day. Will check where that was and let...
We did the Mozarabe in June. Saw no other peregrinos at all and the ones we saw in the Albergue books had been thorugh a couple of weeks before. We had originally planned to do it late April May but we had to delay for family reasons. We made a considered decision to do it in on the basis that...
Hi Thelma we walked this last year in June - it was a great walk but hot as, even for us West Australians. Fairly solitary route, we saw no other peregrinos. Some of it is quite tough but very rewarding. Below is the link to a short video we made of the walk - it was very hot 46 c when we...
If you like bumpy you should have a look at the Camino Mozarabe. A tough camino but very satisfying to do, at least for us as we are late sixties.. There is a short video on Youtube we made called "Mozarabe with dumb things". Dumb things is the music accompaniment but it reflects my thoughts...
Currently on the Mazarabe from Almeria at Quentar having a rest day after a very hard 28 or 31 ks yesterday. Heat has been a problem three of our eight days of walking so far. Have to start by 6 am. The official guide is not that much use. Be sure to get Kevin O Briens guide. Carry plenty of...
