How about a Christmas tree decoration with the name of your town/region/country, or inscribed with a personal message? This way you’ll be remembered at a family time each year when, probably, you can’t be there in person.
Today is 6-years to the day since I joined this wonderful forum. It has been among the best decisions I’ve ever made + so I’d like to record my gratitude to Ivar, the moderators and all forum members for providing such a wealth of advice, support, wisdom, humour and a sense of belonging. Abrazos!!!
A retired bomb disposal officer told me that in certain countries a pile of stacked stones can be an indicator of nearby roadside mines/IEDs. Not an issue for Spanish camino routes, I completely accept, but it offers another quite stark example of the practical importance some of these...
I stayed with a number of pilgrim host families while walking the via francigena through northern France. They provided me with some of my best memories of the pilgrimage and they certainly helped me find a comfortable place to sleep in areas where commercial lodgings were hard to find. A...
I wouldn’t think of this ‘art’ as ‘graffiti’, which I’d normally reserve for tags, scribbles and crude drawings. Maybe it’s like the definition of ‘weeds’, which I understand to be context-specific.
I access this site using a smartphone + it works perfectly well for me (Safari browser). Regretfully, I am technically inept and so cannot contribute to the diagnosis or solutions to this frustrating phenomenon. Good luck!
I came across this news story yesterday and I thought it worth sharing.

Hi Vacajoe, thank-you for posting 'live from the camino'. I am on the verge of booking a camino trip from Lourdes to SdC, and I plan to walk the CA as part of the route. I have to say that I am surprised by how little (recent) information has been posted on the CdS forum about this camino, so it...
On my first camino I walked frequently with an American, a South African and a Dane. We lunched this particular day in Burgos and one conversation topic was how well each of us spoke the English language. Without hesitation, each of the other three voted me as the worst English speaker in the...
Thank-you Rebekah + responders for providing me with a topic ideal for meditative thought as I walk the early stages of the Camino de Santiago de Levante. There's no evidence of Disney that I can see here in Castille-La Mancha province, just wonderful landscapes and some very hospitable people...
I walked the VdlP last year and stayed in a municipal albergue with three single beds and one double bed. It filled quickly, but then a Spanish woman arrived in search of a bed. To resolve the problem, I offered to sleep in the double bed with a 71-year old Czech guy I'd been walking with for a...
Thanks for the kind words, Peter. You may have noted that the del Norte is not on the list, so it's my turn now to turn the admiration in your direction.
BTW, are you aware of the Ultreia Mancunia camino-group that attracts members from across the north of England. They're holding a pilgrims'...
I am about to embark on a camino that will exceed the number of spaces for sellos on any credencial I've used to date. I know it's easy just to take 2 credencials for the trip, but I would prefer to use a single one (with ~55 spaces), if possible. It needs to be recognised as an "official"...
I wasn't aware of a 'recent posts' button until just now. I'm not sure it's in the best possible position, but it's great functionality that I will now make full use of in the future. Thanks for the awareness-raising thread.
