What to carry in my wallet

Good Rule - Always pay in local currency! - in this case Euros. CASH or CREDIT or CASH WITHDRAWL - always choose to pay in Euros. If you try to pay in US cash, if they accept it at all, the onsite exchange rate will always be excessively higher than any bank machine or credit card fee; they...

    Jesus and the Money Lenders

I was talking about this in 2012 with a traveller and scholar and he said there are writings from hundreds of years ago where Pilgrims were complaining about the commercialization of the Camino. The more things change the more they stay the same. 😳😊

I met someone on the camino, never got their contact details and would like to find them somehow.

Post the meeting date, location and what you know about the pilgrim. Someone else further along the Camino trail may have befriended them as well and might have a contact.

    Calm Down

As we can see from the myriad replies there are as many Ways to complete the Camino as there are Pilgrims who do it! What I loved about this is that he compares his 2 Caminos and learns from his own mis-steps. What have YOU learned between two of your Camino's?

    Type 2 Pilgrim

I walked the Camino while on a low carb diet and found plenty of options for my meals. Both eating in the restaurants and eating grocery store picnics. Enjoy!

    what3words - might be handy

Amazing - the applications for the camino are numerous! Outlooks on the Coastal route. Churches that you just wander by and don't have the address, a brilliant mind, created an elegant solution to an age old rural problem.

    Winter walking options

Norte is available in the winter, as there are many, many alternative accommodation options. I did find that the Albergues, when open, were fairly empty, one or two people every couple of days (looking at the Galicia logs). This is a great route to walk with others. I met 2 Spanish groups of...

Where did you find the courage?

Yes, that always amazes me, people who put their horrors on you and on your journey! and they expect you to agree with their issues!

Where did you find the courage?

Yes! That is it! We should all spend our lives "finding reasons that you should!" Kathy

Where did you find the courage?

As for some practical advice, I take phrases that I think I might need - and translate them into the local language. Keep the English and the translation together and have it with you for the times when your cell phone is dead or google translate just doesn't work. Did this for Morocco...

Where did you find the courage?

LesBrass can we agree that 'Worries' are you creating possible circumstances in your mind and fixating on them. I am sure you leave your house alone at home? I am sure there are crimes, and dogs and cows and people in your home country, but hopefully that doesn't prevent you from going...

    bed bugs

I am allergic and ended up in the hospital for allergy shots. (Mosquito bites are even worse for me.) My point , though not well made :(, was that being bitten one night is less of a problem than taking them home and getting bitten every night.
