2 nights, ago I stayed at San Lorenzo hostal. I can't recommend it enough for a single, double or triple room in Najéra. Great hosts, good breakfast. High quality bed linen and towels. In the old town almost on the camino.
I stayed in the dorm, 4 beds, great partitions ensure privacy.Funny, I also spent time looking at the stars in a bright night sky! Very modern, top class would love to stay again.
If you want comfort for the first night, hotel Central is in a good location, very nice hotel. Gîte accommodation mostly on rue de la Citadelle offers a more authentic experience. Depends on what way you prefer to start. Buen camino.
You won't be wrong in splitting your stage from SJPDP to Roncevaux and staying in Borda. It was my 2nd time crossing this point of the Pyrinees. I had a leisurely walk up to Orrisson, a lovely sunny lunch with no rush to the fab views outside Borda while waiting for it to open. The following...
The Central Hotel is family owned. As it says, its very central! The owner was very nice when I stayed there in Oct this year for 1 night. Nice clean modern room. I didn't have breakfast. It was the end of my camino so I did enjoy the comfort. I stayed in a very nice gîte before that, communal...
I stayed tyere on 10th October 2023, and would also say that the standard is very high. Great organisation, fabulous location on the edge of the mountain. Great view of the stars from my dorm. Very modern and comfortable. Clear instructions from Lorenzo especially for newbies. Advantage in...
Hi, I booked there recently on my android phone. It translated straight to English. There is a reservation request form to be completed. No money was requested upfront. I got a confirmation email around 24hrs later.
Hi Jessica, all good advice above. The choice is yours! Kirkie gave you the Camino Society of Ireland contact details. Their website gives winter and spring opening hours also information days that are held around the country. I'd advise calling in or going to an information day. You'll meet...
Hi Stephen,
Well said! Yes and no.
In one way it helps you understand where you are and in another way can confuse you for a while.......going walking again can be a "cure" but knowing you can go, really go may actually be enough.
Hi Silvester,
I certainly can associate with the feeling that my body need to wait for my soul to catch up on difficult days on the Camino!
What I think is helpful is to go back over posts on this forum some time after returning and even rereading posts. These reminders help me keep the Camino...
Hi hans2hike,
When I found it difficult to adjust to home I found the forum helpful in that I was not alone. I agree that everyone's experience has to be different and each journey different. Like you I am planning a home Camino in Ireland on a very beautiful trail through Part of Dublin...
Camino4me, if you read some of the advice that was given to me on page one of this thread you may find it helpful, I did. Take things easy, don't try to forget was you enjoyed about the Camino, don't try too hard to fit into your past life...get on with your new one. Lighten up a little and...
Well done Crusader!! You seem to have brought the Camino home with you. The feelings I felt after my long stint in June 2014 was very different to my recent short walk from Santiago to Muxia and Fisterra. I'm glad I didn't wait until next spring to go back. I left myself as open as I could have...
Hi Joe,
I couldn't have said it better.
I'm giving it another try to concentrate more on the spiritual aspect of the journey starting this October 2014. I'm starting from Santiago to Finisterre/Muxia. Thus, for me, completing the St. Jean to Finisterre route
Any helpful advice/experiences...
I
I agree that there is a definite religious/spiritual presence on the Camino. There were quite a few occasions that we were helped and assisted along the way, it was astounding. I would agree to your advice to "pay attention", and continue to pay attention when at home.
I, like you did not...
