I am a little sentimental reading all this talk. One year ago today I started my one and only Camino - from SJPP. I chose it because what little I knew then of the Camino had to do with the movie "The Way." Perhaps my Camino really started on 4-13-16 as I walked from my home in San Diego and...
Does anyone know what the beehive huts in La Rioje were made for? I got that terminology from Brierley's book, but does wine need observation?) Who made them? When? I can't seem to find information on them on the internet. This photo was taken between Los Arcos and Logrono. Thanks.
Angie:I just got back from my first Camino. I remember some of your early posts when you were first training. I didn't even think to post on the forum when I was there, if I had it might have been easier. I had very little anxiety about being alone, walking alone or just getting around. (I also...
Hi Stephen: I just returned frommy first Camino. This forum helped me immensely in preparing for the Camino. I listened carefully to those who went before me and were more experienced, Most of the time their advise was right on - especially about what to take. One thing that took me totally by...
I am not sure if I qualify but I just got home - did SJPP to Santiago 4/14-5/22. A wonderful experience but physically harder than I expected though I trained very hard. Cold, wet, muddy, challenging and rewarding. I was told it would get easier but I am not sure if ever did.
Well thanks to all of you above that commented. My backpack was NOT fitted correctly. This is the third time I have gone to REI complaining, but this time instead of a man fitting me it was a woman. (This is not a complaint, just explaining) This time, because she WAS a woman, she actually...
I wonder what is correct - they are as tight as I can make them and there is a still a space between my shoulders and the straps. But . . . I am going to REI this morning, we'll see what they say. Thanks for your post.
Debrita: Thank you for taking the time to write such an informative post.
1. I actually just started trying to wear my backpack a little lower than my waiste and I haven't noticed an improvement yet. But I have only done this for the last 2 days. I think I may only have one more walking day...
Angie: Thank you for your post and opening up such an interesting discussion. I leave in 5 days and have been walking all week with my backpack fully packed for the Camino. (I have been training for 4 months with this pack carrying about 15-17 lbs including water) Now that I have it packed it...
I arrive on the 13th at SJPP and hope to be on the trail on the 14th. Maybe my path will cross with someof you. I am a slow walker by temperment and skill.
This has been an incredible thread for me, though I realize it is not very current. I am training to walk the Camino Frances in April, 2016. 6 days ago I fell on a mountain trail and landed on my knee. I limped the two miles to the trailhead and iced my knee when I got home. I have never...
