Privet Nimrod,
I echo the wise words of others: you will always find at least one (or many!) friendly pilgrims to join you.
Trust that you will likely never walk alone - unless and until you want to.
And, like most pilgrims I met on the way, there will be times when you will want to walk...
I never made it to that museum, but I seem to recall that it's on the same stretch of road where two older women come down from their village, meet pilgrims at an intersection, handing out candies and hugs?! :)
Yes indeed! Not a pension, but I'd recommend this place anyway: We were planning to stay at the municipal albergue, but it only opened at 3 (or 4?), so we backtracked uphill, to the place where a group of people (pilgrims and staff) had waved to us on our way into town with this: "Hey, are you...
Ditto for me, dear Dee! I loved, smiled at and thoroughly enjoyed the song/video clip - so much emotion.. and fun! Wow, how I'd love to tumble down that hay-sided waterslide.. and not only to see the dumbfounded stares of passing cows ;) Thank you so much for sharing that AND your words. I hope...
Hi Stacie, Sounds like you had a wonderful Camino despite the unexpected pilgrim-panhandlers.. I too ran into a strange sort, much like you describe. It happened right at the top of 'Mount' Sarria, in fact just at the top turn out of the town. This young man was of Russian origin, seemed to be...
Ahhh,,, wonderfully memorable story, sure to regale your descendants and, now, your fellow pilgrims for eons to come. Remember that guy, whose pants fell UP?! (floated to the top rather than sticking to his butt)
For the record: not ALL Canadians wear Tilley Dilleys.. some of us don bandanas...
My favorites were: the sounds of nature, voices in many languages, the occasional silence.. and, when in the mood, a song that I belted out or hummed to myself, like Here Comes the Sun, Hit the Road Jack or whatever else little ditty that suddenly popped up! Playlist or not, may you enjoy the...
Hi Angeliki! I agree with David, you have a lovely name ;)
Please take this as a piece of encouragement: You simply can't be prepared for everything.
Stuff will happen, some fabulous, and other less so... (for example: bed bugs happen, c'est la vie!)
But you'll see that, more often than not...
Dear Syl, Sorry for the contrary view, but I'd like to wish you a SLOW and easy recovery.. so that you may enjoy a 'differently-paced' and experienced Camino. I know I did, and it was worth it all the way ;)
Apropos Castrojeriz, did you stop by Mau's place, Hospital de Alma? Good to know of, if...
Be careful what you wish for, Rambler. If the rain lets up and it gets too steamy on the way, you might start wishing for a downpour ;) If You & Son don't pay too much attention to the ups and downs of the weather cycle, you'll find that you're just grateful for the daily adventures and...
I too applaud all those with disabilities, seen and unseen, who find the courage and initiative to embark on the Camino. I walked from Pamplona to Muxia last fall, and though I tend to shy away from labels, I could qualify myself as disabled; "could qualify," because my impairments are hidden...
I started from Pamplona, and although I didn't set out at the height of Fermin Fever, I knew that another option just past the city was Cizur Menor (with a couple of albergues). So you could choose to stop there instead. Also, if you come up empty - or want to experience the city from a local's...
If you decide to start walking from Pamplona.. you can! I started from there last fall, no trouble at all ;)
And no need to walk back to Roncesvalles either.
Just find the yellow arrows in town (or the outskirts) and off you go... buen camino!
Hola amigos,
If you´ve been wrapping up your Camino on the Frances the past week or two, and have met a young solo pilgrim named NICOLE, would you kindly please let me know... or ask her to get in touch with me (if you have her contact details)?
You see... she may still be carrying my...
Apparently my notebook was FOUND (at the Albaroque Albergue in Samos) a couple of weeks ago and the very helpful hospitalero-owner Juan sent it with a pilgrim to Santiago (at my request). But as of yesterday it´s not yet turned up ;( I´m still in SdC until tomorrow, so if anyone knows a young...
