    Break O’Cebreiro climb

I stayed in the Casa and had a great stay. The young women who served us were great. I wouldn’t be dissuading people from staying there just because a couple were having sex the night you happened to be there. That could happen anywhere.😄

    Zubiri or Larrasoana?

I stayed there on my second night. A thoroughly enyoble stay. A small room for women and a room with a sitting/kitchen area and 4 bunks off. We had a communal meal/wine all laid on by the hostess with breakfast in the morning. A good introduction to meet fellow pilgrims. We saw a few in...

Mansilla de la Mulas to León: why bother?

When walking a Camino, you eat the whole cake not just the icing and cherry.

Great blog again ieremv. Really enjoying retracing my steps.

If I don't stop in Zubiri, What do you recommend?

Stayed here in Sept 22, delightful accommodation and evening dinner.

Benefits and challenges do not need to be pitted against one another.

LIVE from the Camino Winter Pilgrimage to Roncesvalles: Tips and Experiences

A red squirrel, rare to see here in Scotland, how nice. How is the heel ?

LIVE from the Camino Winter Walking: My Journey Along the Camino Francés

Fantastic blog, bookmarked for regular reading. I completed the CF from STJPDP Sept-through October and your blog takes me back. Interestingly you have stayed in a few different towns than us. We have said that when we do the CF again, we will stay in different towns from our first CF. I...

LIVE from the Camino Winter Pilgrimage to Roncesvalles: Tips and Experiences

I'm no expert, but if it was me and the skin has not broken I would gently insert a needle and try and squeeze out some fluid. You may need two holes, close to the edge. Additionaly do not remove the skin covering from the blister thereby exposing raw flesh. I would put a dresssing, elastoplast...

    Orisson

What the hell is that ? Crossing the Pyrenees was a highlight of my and many other folks Caminos. Don’t shove your prejudices on others.

For pilgrims, an encouraging account of the Camino from Sarria

I walked from STJPDP (Sept-Oct) and found it as busy up to Sarria if not busier, than the walk from Sarria to Santiago. We stopped in Sarria for a bite, which became a dinner in the early afternoon and from there on it was very quiet. I had a discussion with a few fellow pilgrims and all...

Is the Albergue in Roncesvalles a “must”?

I hope they also get that “vibe“ from attending mass regularly.

    Pyrenees difficulty

It’s not that difficult but it should not be missed. It was one of the highlights, as it was for most people I spoke with, of my Camino from SJPDP in September. You can get your bag, if you intended backpacking, taken over to your accommodation by Express Bourricot.

Is the Albergue in Roncesvalles a “must”?

Really ? getting a “vibe” from attending mass ?

Is the Albergue in Roncesvalles a “must”?

If your not religious, in what way does it set the tone ?

Continuing out of Leon March 2023

I also caught Covid-19 this year on the Camino Frances. Started felling poorly in Najera at the end of September, though only 3 or 4 days later it was confirmed after a test. Fortunately after a bed day in Belorado I managed to carry on with my Camino. As said the path for the last few km’s is...

Revised title: Didn't know about other ways to reserve beds, and found no rooms on booking.com

I think you have misinterpreted the post from bks. His comment was not about booking in Roncesvalles, it was about the needless, sensationalist headline from the OP. However, I’ll let him comment, if he wishes.

How Important Was It To You To Do "Full" CF ?

I wanted to walk from StJPdP to Santiago and beyond in one go. Taking vocational freedom this year allowed that to happen. I didn’t want to use 6 weeks holiday to walk and leave no further holiday time. I also don’t want to walk it in say 2 week stages. Quite a few people were racing the clock...
