Married pilgrims praying for some private accommodations along the Camino Frances!

Saw this post from today. In the past i have happily given the house over to couples who stayed 1 or two nights. They have to cook for themselves with whats in the fridge and treat the place like it is their own home. This year will be very strange maybe next year it will be possible again.

UPDATE We put a sign outside the house on the chalkboard and Lucieanne sat here and waited for an hour or so. As of 10 mins ago 2 more Austrailian pilgrims saw the message and the credential was returned to her. It had been left at O Crucero and they had found it picked it up read the details...

An Australian Pilgrim stopped by today and was distressed because she has lost her credential between Meleide and Castaneda. Her name is Lucieanne Irland and the last stop was in the albergue O Crucero. If anyone has found the credential could they let me know by conversation/PM I am sure she...

Angela from OZ and her graffiti

The members of this forum I know do not partake in grafitti evident from the comments in this thread. and all countries have their culprits with regards to graffitti. Every day it is the same senario or rather every second evening. Its not big, its not cleaver, so just dont deface your...

    Estate Agents

Yes wet cold and dark much like UK :):) BUT only an hours flight away from Santiago is Malaga. :):):) and if your lucky you can pick up a return flight reasonably cheap. Great for a few days warm up and dry out in the Sun. Also there are Hostels in Malaga for very good prices

    Estate Agents

Rebekah what you say about the houses sometimes being left to multiple children or the price being bumped up a bit can be true. I think it comes down to the few exploting pilgrims on the Camino who are in a state of flux and looking for something and maybe a bit vunerable. I got really lucky...

Where abouts ( area) would you need to get back to in the UK if you had to go ?

    Estate Agents

Ivar My family live in Germany were E&V have a high profile very professional but as you say they advertise properties in the higher end of the market - (in Germany too).

    Estate Agents

Lee. Which part of Northern Spain are you looking at, as from my experience estate agents seemed to be very localised when I was looking ( which bought nothing "window shopping for days"). In the end I bought my place simply as it was empty with "zu Vende" in the window, and all went very...

LIVE from the Camino Graffiti...and meaness

Lulumom Its funny you mention the chalk. This year my small project is to create a chalkboard in the shape of a camino shell about 1.5m in diameter to stand outside the house or in the gardens. I thought it would be create a place people can leave messages for those following on but also...

When you get to Castaneda if this a suitable stopping point for the day try Casa Milia or Casa Garea both fantastic places with ensuites. I think the cost last year was around 40 Euro for a room. (NOT PER PERSON) Both have options for a meal. Buen Camino

    Sleeping outdoors

Its directly on the Camino :) you will walk by for sure. As you come through the main village of Castaneda there is a long slow hill down and away from the village (Route 1) or the other route goes through the woods. Either way they meet up at a small green house. 100m further on the left is...

Let's get rid of plastic on the Camino

Jill At the beginning and at the end of the season this gets a good clean. I have bought anti graffiti film this year lets see if it helps, What upset me last year was the removal of the Camino tiles and km markers. They had only just been fitted at the start of 2017. In Santiago you can...

    Sleeping outdoors

Zoran When you get to Castaneda Rio come on in - put up your tent where you like, there is a tap outside and a traditional wash sink, washing line. I know I was told permission is required but bending the rules is allowed once in a while :):) I also sleep in the garden occasionaly and surely...

    Sleeping outdoors

I have to agree with Kaiur. Just past the house is a small rest area and over the years it has been quite common for pilgrims to stop and sleep here, either on the benches or in small tents. Many evenings I have seen the authorities turn up and ask them to pack their things and move on. To...

Let's get rid of plastic on the Camino

I put this outside the house last Year, It generated a lot of interest, a lot of photos were taken and hopefully made those dropping thier rubbish a bit more aware what gets left at the edge of the road in the fields and private gardens.

    Remote working while walking

Hello Canna When I first walked the Camino I was self employed, responsible for providing a secure job for two other people, letting them move closer towards their hopes and dreams. However much I wanted to be selfish and think only of myself I had to consider their livelihood and could not...

Hello Bradypus , this may have been the case two Years ago but I live on the Caminio 2 days walk from Santiago and the number of UK pilgrims has really grown in the last two years.
