Wow I am from Napa and walked last year and plan to walk again next year. There have been a string of pilgrims from here and this saddens me to the core and almost gives me goosebumps. May he rest in peace.

    Will it EVER slow down?

Supposedly the camino was filled with 10x more people during the middle ages. It cant be that bad since last year I found myself alone on the CF with nobody in sight for a mile either way multiple times.

    My first camino. May 2018

May 8th: This morning is foggy with moisture in the air. I go down to meet Serge near the camino again. I stretch and say hello to others as I wait for him to arrive. My first camino. May 2018

May 6th: After settling in at Orisson I decide to get another sandwich and explore the area a bit. Pleasantly surprised. Behind Orisson there is a small but steep hill with an exceptional view. Beware of bees. There's a hive up there somewhere. When I came down I decided to socialize a bit, the...

    My first camino. May 2018

Hello everyone, I am 24 years old, my name is Eric from Napa Valley California, of Hispanic origin. My parents are from an old Mexican town nestled high in the Sierra of Michoacan, fabled with both Native and Spanish legends and tales. I decided last year that it would be a good time to walk as...

    albergues recomendación

I reserved both Beilari and Orisson for the first weekend of May. The owners of both hostels were very prompt and kind. They have easy reservations on their websites as well.

    Will Orisson Refund ??

My Orisson invoice stated very clearly that refunds will not be issued and the boarding pilgrim must arrive before 6:30 in the evening. I think your best bet is to contact Orisson and ask them.

    Avoiding the strikes/cancelled train

Hey guys. I decided to get a bus from Toulouse to Bayonne and then train from there to SJPP. The two stations are only a 10 minute walk from each other. Things are looking good. I feel a lot better. Those strikes are a potential blunder for the ill informed!

    Backpack weight

Only 5 weeks left...This is my first time but I'm getting loads of good info. Even though this trip should be about immersing yourself in the Camino, I think it would be really handy to bring a solar phone charger. I don't think I've seen mention of them. They're rather new and often equipped...

    Avoiding the strikes/cancelled train

Thanks Dave. I'd just hate to miss the booking I have in SJPP because the day before is a strike day and who knows what could happen from here to then :(. I think I may double book a bus and train from Bayonne to SJPP I would not mind paying the extra for the security..

    Avoiding the strikes/cancelled train

Hey guys due to the recent train strikes in France decided to cancel my board from Toulouse to SJPP in May and go by bus instead. There is not a strike planned for the day I had reserved but I want to avoid any unprecedented complications that could happen. I was originally going to keep both...

    Planning Advanced Albergue Reservations

First timer here and I depart for the Camino on May 2nd. So far I have only booked my arrival/departure to and from and a night in Orisson. I'm thinking that I'm going to book in SJPP this weekend so I can spend a day there and ease my way in.
