Disparities between Wise Pilgrim and Brierley distances

On the Camino, all published distances are lies. You get used to it. :D

    Astorga

In addition to the above, the Cathedral museum is also amazing.

Best towns to take two nights on CFrances

I will echo what many have said before me - bank those days for when you want them or need them. Having said that: Burgos. ;)

    Guidebook: redundant or useful?

I am, perhaps, hopelessly old-fashioned, but while I have used both apps and books on Camino, I vastly prefer books. They're less likely to break if when I drop them. They don't need to be recharged. I can underline and write notes in the margins. And having the physical object makes it easier...

    Lets Build an Albergue!

Sounds very much like the traditional layout of a medieval monastery.

    O Cebreiro

    Thank you!

    O Cebreiro

We're actually planning on starting in O Cebreiro in early October. Does anybody have any updates or clarification on the situation there?

    September 2018 who’s going?

My wife and I are starting from O Cebreiro on October 5. Just to tide us over until our next full Francés in 2020. ;) Hope to see you along the Way!

    Confraternity of St James albergue

It is Refuge Gaucelmo in Rabanal. One of my favourites on the Camino!

    New Camino song

Thank you. All the joy and all the heartache came rushing back to me in an instant. I wept. I knew I had been missing the Camino, but until just now I hadn't realized how much. Thank you.

Getting from Pedrafita to O Cebreiro

Thank you! I was hoping to avoid a five hour bus, as my wife doesn't handle them all that well physically, and I think this site may have done the trick!

Getting from Pedrafita to O Cebreiro

We, too, are going to be starting in O Cebreiro in early October (huzzah!) and we're looking for alternate ways of getting to Pedrafita itself. It looks like there's a train from Madrid to Lugo, and then a regular bus from Lugo to Pedrafita. Unfortunately, the Renfe site being the Renfe site, I...

The best map for Camino Frances.

As I said above, I’ve walked the Camino Frances twice now, and I know you don’t need a map. But I like a map. I particularly like to know what’s near, but not directly on, the route. I also enjoy knowing what the local geography is like. It helps me make decisions about stopping places...

The best map for Camino Frances.

I agree. There's just something about paper. Particularly when you have zero reception on your phone... ;)

The best map for Camino Frances.

Resurrecting the dead thread, here. No, nobody needs a map for the Camino, strictly speaking, but I for one like maps. :D I found the one by Pili Pala Press to be extremely useful on my first two Caminos. It showed the geography at a glance and gave me a good visual idea of how and where...

    How many Euros

We spent about €30 a day each, staying at albergues and eating well to replenish our energy.

    Nice essay

Very good essay. Thanks for sharing it!

Less than a week to go and giddy

Just finished my last day of work before the Camino, and boy did that feel good! Less than three days to our flight now, and the giddy is mixing with that gnawing last-minute feeling that I've forgotten something...
